I gotta get the Z3. Looks amazing. Everything that I want in a phone. I would get a Z2, but the cheapest I've found was on Swappa for $500. I'd rather get this on T-Mobile with payment plans. Just wish they had the nice purple color like on the Z2. I'll probably get black or the silver green color.

All you guys with z2s must not live in the united states, we barely got a crack at it or the z1c. The z2 was out by the time we got the z1(s)

It's like all the useless features you can find in some other brands, they promote them so hard that you want to try them. Some people do think it's cool, want to try them and expect a wow from their friends. So they buy the phone. But stop using those features after a week because they are useless. In the end that awesome phone becomes a phone like many others, but that brand made you buy their phone, and not the other brand. Competition.
Many consumers just want something cool to stand out of the crowd. Qhd is something they can show to their friends (eventhough the friend won't see anything). But quality, long battery life, durability...today are not things that make the consumer different from others.
Qhd may crazily become the standard for high end smartphones, just like the race for Ghz, or ultra slim bezels. Many will prefer to have the gimmick feature without paying extra price. So if Sony don't catch up quickly, it will be tough for them to gain market shares.

"there is no point having more than 1080 because it will bring more disadvantages on a 5" device" reasons are if they put screen resolution higher than 1080 the results would be battery drain hence a need for a thick profile for high battery capacity and overheating issues for long hours of usage. Also it would affect the performance to render heavy graphics. And yet 1080 is already great for a 5", there is no reason to go higher than that. Typical example of that failure is the LG G3.

Good thing they want to upgrade the camera...
The tablet z3 also a monster itself, but 6 month cycle is just 'a' little bit.
Hope sony won't become like Samsung, a ton of device in a year...by the way Samsung make a good product somehow.

(i live in asia, where you pay the phone's full price)

Its like having 4k tv but Broadcasters only transmit 720p/1080i. Why pay the cable company $250 for standard def when you have an HDtv

I think I'll go for Z3 Compact.
There are some things that worries me like fragile body, stupid front speakers and sensors too far away from the earpiece... But I gues it'll be OK.

i have a z1, almost a year, seeing Z3 with spec not so different, with a nicer body, a better screen and more ip certification. personally i dont think upgrade to z3 would be a good idea, maybe when sony made a Qhd display with a better battery, i will consider to buy. but at the moment, it seems like a bad idea to upgrade, unless you got a money tree
