Motorola Moto X (2014) review: Have it your way

15 September 2014
The new Moto X arrived exactly a year after its predecessor brought us customizable looks, wrapped in a sleek body, proudly wearing the "Made in USA" label. The new flagship of the company is likely one of the last Motorola products developed during...

AnonD-89109, 16 Sep 2014Why you guys always tend to skip the telephony detailed sec... moreYes, and why didn't they test the four microphone noise cancellation in calls? This is a one of a kind feature. Even three microphones is extremely rare these days. I can't believe how much call quality is overlooked in phone reviews.

They even comment on the noise cancellation for voice commands, which is not nearly as important to me as call quality. Ridiculous oversight.

        So overpriced!

I was really hoping to get my hands on the Moto X this year, unfortunately Motorola failed when it comes to battery size and life. To Moto engineers: today's phones have ~3000 mAh batteries, and unless you have Gandalf in your team you won't do wonders with your 2300 mAh miserable battery. So - see you maybe next year.

Moto X of last year had just the perfect size for single hand use. This one has grown too big. 4.7 inch screen with super slim bezels was unique feat for Moto X. Also, Sad to see Moto G going 5 inch from 4.5 only to drop it's pixel density.

I loved the idea I can customise my phone. I will wait for M9. M8 doesn't have image stabilisation and 4px camera still pretty much same as old ( apart from defocus feature ). Will wait .

An almost Perfect phone if only it had Expandable Storage. I can still live with the 2300 mah battery, but No SD card option is a deal breaker.

I wonder how come gsmarena doesnt mention E8 during comparison of MotoX with other phones when the fact is that E8 is more robust and a true beast when it comes to performance and antutu benchmarks (even beats its sibling M8)

I've had problem with Moto X 2013 about watching movies and low voice but Moto X 2014 I doubt that would be the case. BTW I have HTC One M7 and HTC One M8, also HTC Desire 816 but I'm using currently Moto X(I keep switching uses few days some than switches to other) only thing that I don't like about moto X is its display, feels not so good when I go to HTC M7/M8 cuz they seems to have real and better color. but yes animation movies looks great on Moto X.

Moto X all the way, Waiting for Moto X Pure edition to hit the market, Battery life was good on Moto X(1st Generation). I'm using Moto X(2013) and HTC One M8, I don't feel much difference between battery timing, when both fully charged and 3G is on and Wifi spot is active then both finishes same day and have to charge at the end of day.

Why Reviewer in end said it don't have premium look and feel. It definitely is premium. iPhone 6 and Moto X(2014) both front is a lot similiary whole glass panel edge to edge, side of both are aluminum, only back is differ so I'm considering buying Moto X(2014) already have 2013 but also waiting for iPhone 6+, There are few who admire the feel of smartphone in hand, I'm one so they are both seems to have great feel.(HTC M8 have from that I can tell). I might also considering buying Note 4.. but I'm not much into Samsung. but wanted to try out myself 2k display and as displaymate says it have the best and accurate colors on a smartphone. that is enticing.

I had an original Moto X before my LG G3, and it was excellent. No probs with battery life really. Only let down was camera in low light. Phone was smart and a delight to use. LG G3 is the same really (smart, great ergonomics), except the G3 battery life is useless because I use it too much having fun! ;)

This is the biggest let down of this rather cool device ,,No stereo speakers (the cheaper Moto G has them),, After HTC M7 I can't imagine a smartphone without stereo speakers .
