Meizu MX4 review: Alternadroid

7 November 2014
While Xiaomi’s busy conquering the world with hardly leaving China, and the likes of Oppo and Huawei think globally, as they act locally, Meizu is somewhere in between. Some three years now and several generations of supercharged...

nick, 27 Feb 2015This phone lags on first day. I don't know hot it scored ov... moreI think it is not the problem of the GPU, but rather the compatibility issue.
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 which has the similar processor, facing the same problem too.
While I not facing lag on the Redmi Note 2 with it's Android 5.0 Lollipop MIUI 8 skin (probably they optimize it with the skin), it certainly get very hot while using, draining battery fast, and also not compatible to many of the games (many game fail to play).
Or should I say, stay away from some of the Mediatek and PowerVR device (low popular device) if we want better support/compatibility in long run.

Jhay-ar, 13 Apr 2015Hi Guys, I Own a Meizu MX4 and using it for almost 3mos... moreIt can be said in both way.
We can say NBA2K15 is not optimize well for PowerVR G6200, or PowerVR G6200 is not compatible to NBA2K15.
Something also can relate to Android version. I think MX4 still stick to Android Lollipop, where Xiaomi Mi3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra already updated to Android Marshmallow, so NBA2K15 is more compatible for Android 6.0.
There is no simple work around way, unless the game developer update the game to be more compatible to Android Lollipop/PowerVR G6200, or install custom rom for Android Marshmallow.

                Hi Guys,

I Own a Meizu MX4 and using it for almost 3mos. I dont encounter any problems (lags, Slow reboot, poor camera) and I think this phone has the best quality from its cheap price compare to other same smartphone.

the only thing is recently I install NBA 2K15 games and that when the problems starts. the game doesnt work better. the resolution and graphics of game is good but its performance was saddens me a lot. the game (NBA 2K15) lags a lot.

I try to install 2K14 and it works good. my workmate is using a MI3 Xiaomi phone and the game (2k15) works good on ther phone. also in sony xperia z ultra.

i compare mx4 to those phone and the thing i noticed is ther diffrence was GPU..

Xiaomi MI3, SONY XPERIA Z ULTRA using "ADRENO 330"
While MEIZU MX4 is using "PowerVR G6200 MP4".

Take note that NBA 2K15 WORKS WELL ON THOSE 2 PHONE THAN MX4 AND THEIR DIFFERENCE IS "GPU"

                Does it affects the game?
or is that the problem why I cant play 2K15 on mx4???

Thanks in advance for your opinions...

A man , 13 Feb 2015Is this phone going to lag after 1 year of normal using? This phone lags on first day. I don't know hot it scored over 80h in battery life test, everyone is complaining about it, that it easily runs out of juice after 1 day. GPU is pretty bad as well, it has a lot of problems with 3D textures etc.

[deleted post]In all Graphic Benchmarks Smartphones with Sp800 and Sp801 are much better than MX4, but in real games MX4 is better... Gpu Benchmarks not proof anything to me.

Show videos that i have linked before. In real games MX4 is better than smartphones with sp800 and sp801. And i dont think that can possible with an stock G6200. Every sites says its g6200 mp4. Gsmarena included, but yes, you, and only you are right.

I don't know why you keep insisting that it's a 'MP4'. I mean, just look at the performance ffs. From it's performance you can clearly see it doesn't have 4 cores.
Nobody officially states that it has 4 cores. The MP4 denotation is clearly a typing error in some articles.

AnonD-170594, 15 Nov 2014http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaTek#Hexa-core_and_octa-co... more¿What is it you do not understand of "custom G6200"?

One thing is the MT6595 stock, and another is the custom MT6595 in Meizu MX4.

Power VR officially only manufactures the G6200, which in fact has 2 cores. But the Power VR G6200, in MX4 is a CUSTOM version. Is Power VR G6200 MP4. "MP4" means that have 4 cores instead of 2 of stock. It is a G6200 Quadcore. And besides that, it has a higher speed than a G6200 stock, 600 mhz per core.

If you do not understand, sorry, I can not explain better.

                                    MT6595 - PowerVR 6200 (Rogue, 2 clusters) @ 600 MHz

From Wikipedia. You know better than Wikipedia?
All the articles thinking it's a MP4 are just wrong (because previously MediaTek used the Mali-450 MP4).
