Charge test: Battle of the fast chargers

10 April, 2015
Smartphone batteries piggybacked on the growing screen size to go up in capacity to support both the screen and faster chipsets. Slower to deplete, the new batteries also proved slower to charge so manufacturers tackled the issue with new standards.

What i want to know is if those features increases the strain on the battery therefore won't have the same lifetime as those charging without fast charging.

Apple is the long time hater on fast charging. They always believe that fast charging will kill the battery's longevity, but the whole thing had been changed when the other manufacturers started adopting fast charging technology yet able to reduce the impact against the battery longevity at the same time. Shame on you, Apple!

There is something funny (in a good way) with Huawei Ascend P7 that i have. With bundled charger which is 500 or 700mA, it charges my phone in no time. I think it's like hour and a half for almost full charge, probably 2 hours for 100% charge. But if I plug it on a 3A charger from my tablet, it takes forever. Same goes for another generic but quality 1A charger. And same goes for PC USB port that has 500mA.

Regular fast charging (not the OPPO kind) will kill the battery faster and that's why Apple never advise it.

Samsung batteries were throw-away quality so Samsung don't care about killing them quickly with fast charger because user can replace it easily but now the battery is built-in, they need to stop using fast charger.

I wonder why OnePlus is not included in this while the Meizu is. My OnePlus goes from 4% to 100% in exactly 2 hours. 2A charger to power a 3100mAh battery.

My question is: if/how Quick Charge 2.0 degrade battery life? I've been always told the lower the charging current, the better for battery life in general.
