Nokia N1 review: Rebirth

22 June 2015
Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's Devices & Services division was one of the toughest tech breakups. Nokia has sort of a comeback to consumer devices though by licensing their brand for Foxconn to use in a co-designed product...

            Great review.

I have questions about the screen. How good are the whites? My Sero 7 Pro had bad, bluish tint on whites.

Also someone mentioned color bleed when applying a bit of pressure on the screen. I was wondering if that was a issues with his device as he mentioned or common occurance?

I prefermore natural looking colors on my screens, over oversaturated colors. I hear in terms of overall color accuracy, the N1 was one of THE most accurate.

            Thanks in advance.

I have a question requarding the display.

I read qite a bit on tablet, and therefore, the whites on the tablet are important. My question is, how are the whites? I had the Sero 7 Pro and the whites were blueish and really annoying. Are the whites white?

Also a guy on Android Authority showed when he pressed on the tabs screen, there was color bleed. Is that just his device or do you see it too?

I prefer more natural looking colors over over saturated screens(but i still like them). And I hear that the colors are one of the most accurate on the Nokia N1.

Thanks in advance. Great review btw.

Looks like the N1 will be underspec'd by the time it comes to the US.
A shame, too. Despite not having a GPS, it looked like an excellent 4:3 option for a tablet.

Foxconn has been very slow to "ramp up" production. Seems like their focus is primarily on non-western countries. I wonder if Microsoft's terms with the Nokia sale are in action here.
I believe the N1 will not ever sell in the US. If there was intention to do so, that option would have been taken months ago.
Again, a shame. I have been waiting for another alternative in the 4:3 market to replace my well aged HP Touchpad. Guess it's time to look more seriously at the Nexus9 and iPads.

Carlos, 27 Jun 2015Is not Nokia, Nokia is dead since Elop coming. Last Nokia p... moreVery true, he was the leeching man (bloody malarial mosquito Elop) to the Nokia. Nokia should have got rid off him @ any cost. We would have been seeing Nokia still today @ No. 01 if Elop shouldn't be there. Hoping to see Nokia @ it best once again. Genius always remains alive, just like a seed what hibernates during freezing winter but always grows back with the arrival of spring.

Form the review, you would have to hope that the Global version is a very diffrent beast.
And then it will loose its affordability.

And in risk of beeing sued by apple, it would probably sport another look. And although this look very iPad-ish, it looks quite good, and that was one of its strengths compared to many other android tablets.

It's not a promicing situaion for Nokia.

This tablet was not designed by Nokia. It was only branded by Nokia, but created by Foxconn.
Nokia is planning to return on phone/tablet market in 1-2 years.
