BlackBerry Leap review: Bouncing up and down

21 July 2015
Many thought the days of BlackBerry were numbered yet the company is still here, pushing new phones. The Canadians might not be the leading smartphone manufacturer that it once was, but it's still got a loyal fanbase that the BlackBerry Leap comes to cater to...

Blackberry has done. They are miles behind the leading Android ,and Apple phones.Their hardwares like the Android phones 3 years ago, their appstore is a joke, their prices also, for such outdated specs.Better if they concentrate on Ice hockey. They are good about it.But let others produce phones.Like Samsung,Apple,Lg,and Sony.

i think that they truly utilize the MSM8960 Chipset.. from the Z10 , Q10 and Classic, BB also have tweaks on Z3, Q5 and Classic... and the camera is really improving, i also think that they copied some iPhone Techniques in making in-house camera, (iphone's 8MP camera is really improving throughout the years).. i dont think that Z30 is a better choice. but GPU on Z30 is same with the MOTO X and other SD800.. i think this is a good choice for those who really wants a BlackBerry smartphone.. but battery is a bit a problem.. :)

Why would someone buy this over the phones with a more mainstream OS?

Bb10 is a very capable os, far more powerful than ios and far faster than android with its hub etc. I think the reviewer doesn't know it all that well

You missed the shortcuts bro. BlackBerry's are all about the shortcuts. Also the hub is only a mess because you set it up that way. Phone calls, texts, emails, tweets, facebook notifications an i.m's can all be rearranged, seperated, hidden or a mixture of all of the above. First few pages almost lost me. All the stuff that's not important was listed in detail. Missed almost all the tricks and special features that make the device special.

You are absolutely right. I was using the BB Z 10 and the only reason i quit was due to poor battery back up. Otherwise it was a great device and never ever faced any hanging issue in spite of having more than 75 apps installed. It is never the case with Android phones. Though Android phones offer great app choices, how many of us going to use them all in our day to day life? More over the androids have this peculiar problem of hanging and over heating. i am presently using the One Plus mobile, which has great specifications. The mobile was too good in the initial months. But after Lollipop update it hangs a lot and gets heated up. At most of the times, even normal messaging can not be done as the screen hangs and the app never open up and you have to reboot the device. These things never happened with BB devices to the best of my usage and knowledge. The only area which BB has to address is in its pricing and local market contents through their app world. Most of the useful day to day app are missing in that. I am seriously thinking of taking an additional mobile of BB, either a Passport or a Z30...

Most of it's features are still miles ahead of IOS and the millions of Androids. The hub and the keyboard are still remarkable last time I checked. The problem is, Blackberry needs to release new handsets to attract app developers to remain relevant. Which is one of the many reasons the two OS'es continue to hug the limelight. Pricing their phones right and marketing it more adds to their weaknesses. I'm using a Z30 right now. Not yet planning on going back to Android, whose phone models now I think has a relevancy of six months, before it gets succeeded. Just my 2 cents..

                        BB is killing himself.
It's 2015 and they still not understand that , no one gives a f@ck about their OS , if the wouldn't offer a decent hardware.
Come on BB, you can do that.
You must understand, you are not a Apple , which sold HVGA phones for five hundred bucks in years.
