perks of a mediatek processor: not for developers. mediatek suckswhen it comes to providing kernelsource codes that devs nedeed in order to fully optimize the phone's potential as with other available custom roms. what's more? audio quality of mtk processors sucks!!!
buy mi4c instead!! - go for snapdragons!

I bought a chinese domestic version and the phone came without google service, is it true upgrading to the global miui rom will give me google service to my phone? How do I updaye my global miui rom then?

Some xda-dev users have noticed that too. There are also reports of dust getting into front camera, but on mine (or rather my brother's) it hasn't happened so far. The cover does squeak though. Despite that, I'm planning to get one of them myself, it's a really nice bang for the buck.

I have bought the Redmi Note 2 myself. I cant understand hiw you can say that battery life is bad, and that it gets dust inside camera. Build quality is very nice. And battery life is not bad at all. A friend of mine has the Samsung galaxy S6 edge, and his 800 euro phone does not have better battery capacity than the redmi note 2. I think the redmi note 2's battery holds longer on a charge than the S6. It is a great phone. After upgrading to Miui 7 multilingual rom it works flawlessly :) this phone can fo everything the most expensive phones can do. It is a bargain for this price! Sound quality is also very very good. For playing music or when using it for ohone calls, it has very clear and high enough sound! Don't be afraid to buy this phone at all! Xiaomi does it again! They make great quality phones, and the Redmi Note 2 is absolutely worth the price!

I wonder which firmware this was tested with. Using "my" method, the battery life is around 71 hours - the same as xperia m2 aqua. I'm using the 5.9.18 developer ROM - not the newest, but the newest has battery life troubles it seems. Pretty satisfied with it so far.

Huge differences. For much more money i'll get far less functional phone, especially if it's the iPhone, but Galaxy too.

Actually, Sony M5 is not quite enough to compete with Redmi Note.
Meizu M1 Note is the closest.
Ouch, that battery life getting worse.
What you expect from 49 hours of usage?
