Lenovo K3 Note review: Note for less

9 October, 2015
It was not that long ago that you could hardly get a feature phone for $150, and these days this amount gets you a ridiculously good smartphone like the Lenovo K3 Note. It’s an affordable large-screen phablet with little compromise on the important stuff.

Gsmarena : Nice review but I think you reviewed a chinese unit bcoz In Indian k3note both sim cards can be used for 4G and battery provided is 2900mah and not 3000mah and no Lenovo music player is preinstalled also no battery management apps are preinstalled. However a video player is bundled.. Also we have lollipop notifications. but no homescreen gestures settings although we have Lockscreen gestures

Excellent review, but it seems you've skipped the audio quality test. Please review that if possible. I want to know if all the dts Dolby certifications that the mobile is flaunting, makes it sound better. Thanks

Put this review next to iPhone 6s+ and OnePlus 2's review. Go to page 3 Display and compare the subpixel arrangement under microscope for all 3 phones. Notice while all 3 phones have IPS LCD with 401/403ppi, the pixel arrangement are quite different. K3 Note's forms a rectangle, iPhone's a square and OnePlus 2 parallelogram when you add the green, red and blue subpixels together to form a pixel. It is this difference that determine the actual viewing quality.

Pixels on K3 Note and OnePlus 2 aren't really square though OnePlus 2's is a lot better than K3. iPhone's 3 subpixels are actually 6 subpixels in chevron arrangement that helps with off-center color shaft. Same spec but when you get down to the details, you got what you paid for.

                        Main disadvantages
                        No other storage options

What is the other storage option other than external micro SD- which is already there, plus the phone support OTG, so u can use your 64 GB pendrive as another storage?

please enlighten if i am missing anything.

Had the phone for about 2 months as my daily driver. The standard software stayed for a day. I rooted the phone, removed all the spyware, junk and bloatware and then installed the Google now home screen. Stayed with that for a month then moved to the limoncello rom.

I think I will stay with this setup for a while.

As it is now the phone is simply astonishing for the money. The screen is great, it's very fast and with the scrolling multi tasking control on this room switching is a pleasure.

Never used nfc so can't comment on the fact it's missing but all the networking, Bluetooth and so on work perfectly.

Highly recommended. I wrote this response on it. Ooh and with this rom, no Chinese..... At least this far!

The specs page seem to indicate that the phone is dual band i.e. 2.4 AND 5 ghz but the article seems to indicate otherwise. Also apparently there is no NFC which for me really limits the phone in the U.S. If it had NFC then it would be approaching a real phone imho. There will be new payment systems in place and it will happen overnight likely as soon as next year.

Otherwise people might as well spend that money torwards a BLU phone.

This is a very good review! However, you have skipped on the usual audio quality test. Please review the quality of audio output of the phone as well.
