While IPS LCD display has evolved and black level did improved it still won't beat AMOLED's absolute black. Not to mention IPS display's contrast is nowhere near the infinite contrast ratio. VA LED panel might have gone better but AMOLED/OLED panels are superior for watching movies. OLED is already becoming mainstream and already lot's of other OEM manufacturers are ditching LCD for AMOLED/OLED. The only thing LCD displays advantage are-
1. Brightness level higher than AMOLED/OLED
2. Power consumptions are lower
3. Very cheap to manufacture.
4. Screen burn in are none existent
Now possibly LCD display's use to have great colour accuracy but modern AMOLED/OLED display's has already cached up and screen burn in are not an issue anymore. Seriously you have got to read a review of LG's recent OLED TV.

Edd, 14 Oct 2015the main disadvantage concerning to this device is that it ... moremost meizu phones are already running 5.1.1, so im guessing this will be getting updates up to at least whatever is past android marshamllow. as for Google play services that would depend on whether your retailer is trying to sell you the international version or a covered-up chinese version.

[deleted post]so, not buying flagship phones can be considered "poor people mentality"? wow, just wow. that's a rather poor argument, now you're ranting that people are wrong to buy bang-for-the-buck phones just because you're used to buying expensive flagship phones that are really just for bragging rights? or maybe you just don't like chinese oems in general? so i guess for you it's wrong to buy nexus phones then, since they're cheaper but offer the same experience as other flagship phones?

battery endurance,
mx4- 89 hrs at 3100 mAh battery
mx4 pro- 67 hrs at 3350 mAh battery
mx5- 55 hrs at 3150 mAh battery
everybody else works on increasing the battery life....

Sealed battery and no FM radio is not listed as con? And yet it is listed at every other phone with that specs.

Meizu good design and quality components. midranger with amoled is great. You can't stand that lcd horrible contrast anymore once you taste amoled.

the main disadvantage concerning to this device is that it will stuck to android 5.0.1 or maximum the update will be up t 5.1.1, and there are some cases that you need to install play services manually.

ithehappy, 14 Oct 2015Not even slightly interested, but just a quick Google searc... morethat's just wrong man. you dont like it when GSMARENA reviews phones that may not be available in your area? well wake up. this is an internet site, it caters to anyone with internet access, wherever they live, so while you may not get the phone they're reviewing now somebody else in another part of the world will. and the fact that the reviewers actually got a review unit means you're either just unlucky or you don't know where to get similar phones.
also i'd actually like it if they review phone

It's interesting that the X10 showed much better GPU strength in the benchmarks than we saw with the HTC One E9+. This is expected in the on-screen tests but even in the off-screen tests the MX5 scored much higher. The MX5 makes me think that the X10 is more on par with other upper mid-range chips than I thought. But what happened with the One E9+?

please improve your video test. at least do a recording test while walking so we can see how good/bad the optical/digital image stabilization in each phone and maybe focusing speed test as well.

I an still missing some information. While you mentioned the great audio performance with external speakers, I didn't find anything about the internal speaker(s). Besides: if front speaker or backside loudspeakers is also not mentioned. I am also missing the information about the option to root the device from the settings menu. It was there in previous devices. Is it still there? If yes, it might be an outstanding feature that's worth to mention. Isn't it?
