Motorola Moto X Play review: Crowd pleaser

16 October, 2015
The Moto X Play is the balancing act between the Moto G and Moto X Style with a tendency to aim high instead of settle for less. At 5.5 inches in diagonal its display still puts it in phablet territory, leaving the Moto G (3rd gen) to cater to compact phone lovers.

Umbilical Noose, 16 Oct 2015Using high end headphones with these kind of handset is not... moreWhat all do you want in 300$? A fingerprint scanner? Stereo speakers? Metal build? 2k Display? Why dont we add 128GB internal in there for good measure? Its the best phone you can buy in the price range.

Anonymous, 16 Oct 2015The battery life is extremely disappointing for its battery... moreBattery life is very good , see the talktime , web browsing & Video timings...they are good , they only need to improve on Standby time , which is very less even having a big 3630 mah battery...!
And I know when the phone will get updated to Android 6.0 Marshmellow , the standby time will increase...!

tobbbie4tobbbie, 16 Oct 2015Again a phone with audio cut-off frequency just at FM Radio... moreUsing high end headphones with these kind of handset is not a very wise decision to begin with. wanna enjoy your music, go buy a proper DAP.
The bigger problem here is that mono speaker. What year is it? Those Symbian phones had stereo speakers back in the day.

This would be an awesome phone if Moto didn't decide to ditch the gyro. I see no mention of it in the review, but they cut the flashlight chop gesture because the accelerometers alone couldn't handle it. It also means no VR/photospheres. The X 2nd gen ends up being better if you don't mind the reduced battery.

The battery life is extremely disappointing for its battery capacity..the same as the S6 edge+.....what a shame..i waited so long for this review before I ordered the phone..I'll just get something else then

Again a phone with audio cut-off frequency just at FM Radio level (16 kHz) - how would you like to combine high end headphones with that and still enjoy? Proper filter design is really no problem these days and a flat 20-20k frequency response is not either!
