HTC One A9 hands-on: First look

20 October, 2015
HTC is attempting a course-correction and the HTC One A9 is the phone to set it on its new path. Or rather its old path - HTC was synonymous with "premium Android" back in the day, but lost its way the last couple of generations.

Good looking phone but the weak quad CPU kills the deal, good luck HTC.

The HTC One A9 is a budget phone no matter how much r everyone claims it to be a "mid-range device."

        It's definitely NOT "flagship" material.

The antenna lines on the back is supposedly HTC's signature design and not Apple's since the days of the original One M7.

HTC claims Apple copied their One M7 (yr 2013) with the iPhone 6 (yr 2014) -- antenna lines, unibody, all-metal body fish, 4.7-inch screen size, etc. So it seems like HTC is sticking their design back to Apple.

The A9 is another HTC management decision release mishap as the M9 was a design mishap.

What's worth looking into is the One ME, the M9+ or even the E9.

HTC should've released these phones in the Western hemisphere instead of the A9.

The SD617 is capable of 1080p@60fps, so hopefully a software update will open that up. I know if camera API is open, 3rd party apps (like open camera) can do that. We'll see, but as long as this thing can score a 65-70 in battery endurance, I'm getting it.

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2015hahaha im so glad you mentioned dual flash that HTC 'copied... morethe dual LED in htc thunderbolt doesnt serve the purpose of dual LED true tone flash in ip5s yooo..it consists of 2 regular LED..who are you gonna fool? :P ip5s dual LED flash is to set the tone correctly not to simply light up the dark scenes

Really well written article GSMArena, although in between there was some sugar coating but over all I totally agree with you. Especially that last part about HTC letting their brand name off their heads. If Motorola can do that, why not HTC? This mobile would have literally been THE Bestseller only of it carried a global price of 300-350$. But at this price, I can't see it going anywhere. Especially when we already have options like Huawei G-8, Oppo R-7s and Moto X Play.

I want htc one a9 this day is my birthday october 22. I know that htc can make it to the top with this new htc one A9. THIS IS THE BEST PHONE OF ALL TIME.

We ordered 3. I think the device is pretty dam good. Its going to look and feel just as good. I watched the presentation twice http://www.gsmarena.com/watch_...ws-14577.php
and I am impressed with the overall concept and various capacity it has in terms of photographic innovation, refined process for battery conservation and the amoled sharpness in a cool smooth body. Probably a bit bigger than I wanted but it strikes a medium point between IPhone 6s and 6+ and with better specs than the 6s which I also like. Cant wait for the A9 to be delivered

Wow this phone looks like iPhone. Like Samsung, HTC ditched its signature features to offer bottom firing speaker, bottom headphone jack, rounded True-tone flash, 2.5D rounded glass, home button with finger scanner (even though the phone have on-screen buttons).
