iPhone 6s vs. Galaxy S6 vs. Xperia Z5: Monster Brawl

23 October, 2015
Some phones just can't be reviewed in a vacuum, the competition between them is so fierce – and their price tags so high – that they have to be compared against each other under a microscope to determine the best one for you. The Apple iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S6 are joined by the Sony Xperia Z5 for this three-way fight.

I changed my phone from iPhone 6 to s6 edge 3 months. I am pretty happy with its performance. I changed because I got bored of iphone's GUI which is largely unchanged from past couple of years. I like that I can apply themes on s6. It's highly customisable, freedom of downloading anything besides everything stylish beautiful screen. However that's not to say that my iPhone was bad, to the contrary that was good too. Just felt like change so s6. P.s. my wife changed her phone to s6 edge too after using my phone for day or two.

Anonymous, 24 Oct 2015hmm...if Sony Xperia Z5 had less than 1000:1 contrast, then... moreIt is because the colors from the camera are dependent on the display you are viewing ,.,,,if u are viewing on smartphone with different color rendering, different contrast, different gamma levels and different display temperature then the image will be shown with different colors. you will see 2 different colors of same pic when viewed on 2 different kind of displays (say Xperia Z5 and Galaxy S6). S6 will show better colors because its very accurate and on the warmer side (around 6500 kelvin) which is close to reference point of being pure white. whereas on Z5 the image will be shown with different colors and will be quite bluish because of its colder display ..which i really hate.

              the conclusion says
"...of Samsung's desire to stand apart from other Androids..."
Perhaps Samsung should try less customization. Most people are not conscious about the UI differences among phones anyway. Or Samsung could become supplier of next years Nexus. I would buy.

This is gonna be a long comment from a Sony user.
First of all, I don't understand why so many of you trust blindly a reviewer or other (be it GSMArena or any other). Don't you think that companies like Apple, Samsung, Sony and any other brand try to bribe reviewers for better reviews of their phones? Of course Samsung and Apple can afford a lot, considering their revenues.
Secondly, regarding this comparison I could say Z5 is undoubtedly the best when it comes to video stabilization, nothing comes even close to Sony's digital stabilization. Even my Z3 trashes every non-Sony phone in video stabilization. When you walk you can't see any shakiness. Also in the flower test, it seems Z5 is capturing a lot more, that's why it's harder for its software to know if you wanna capture the flower or the city. The ISO is high (1000) and the city is well lit. For a fair comparison the ISO should've been manually set to a lower value, like the others. For the other tests, it's just subjectively since the phones are so close in every department.
Now about a real user needs(I'll speak only about Sony because that's what I'm using for a long time and I know everything about them).
What's important for me it's battery life, and this year Sony has been awful. They should've been capable of putting the same 3100 mAh the Z3 has, as both phones have the same dimensions. Also they've had problems optimising SD810 and all other processors they've used this year.
Another very important thing, an outstanding feature, not gimmick is the active noise cancelling with their headphones that has never been reminded by reviewers.
Regarding audio, the stereo speakers are useless as long as you can barely hear them. I'm ashamed when I need to show something to someone at work and you can barely hear anything. I don't listen music often in speakers and I doubt anyone does, so you need a loud sound, doesn't matter if it comes from 1 or 2 speakers. Also everyone is complaining about the volume levels in headphones. I have to strongly disagree! Perhaps it's quieter than on other phones but it's already dangerously loud! After 30 min of listening in headphones on volume 11/15 I'm worried to not become deaf! Also it's very tiring.
Regarding camera, I don't take too many photos but the phones right now are so close in this department, you can't say one it's much better or much worse. The problem with Sony phones is sky-rocketing the ISO (the result being visible noise) and the probably worst led on market. It's incredibly weak!
Anything else is as close to perfect as a thing created by man could ever be! The display, the look, the noise cancelling, the battery remaining the same after years of usage (I also happen to have an Xperia Z since July 2013 and the battery is still the same), the updates, the Android skin and the apps look wonderful, everything seems super-fluid on Xperias.
One thing GSMArena fails to clarify. How can Z3 and Z5 with the exact same dimensions and 5.2" screen have different screen-to-body ratio??? It's a nonsense.

AnonD-430043, 24 Oct 2015Z5's camera result though, so much for a number one spot on... moreIn the blind test Sony was clearly winning
