LG Nexus 5X review: Settling down

16 November, 2015
Some think that it's time for Google to start making its own hardware, the closest we have today is the Nexus series. The Nexus 5X, co-designed by Google and LG, is the mid-range offering and a respite from the 6" Nexus last year, leaving its sibling to fill the premium, large-screen role.

AnonD-455738, 17 Nov 2015Well, G2 we amazing hands down. G3 was too early with QHD, ... moreHopefully G5 will be the true successor of the G2. But if they will insist on large screens, I think it will just be another failure. They could build a smaller G5 along with the regular one. A G5s with a 5.2" screen and a 3600mAh battery would be a true G2 successor.

Aspros, 17 Nov 2015Worst nexus ever, a disgrace for the family name... And LG... moreWell, G2 we amazing hands down. G3 was too early with QHD, they should have waited to the fall and used SD805 worldwide, which would have solved performance, battery and heat problems. G4 got let down by SD808, which totally killed it's battery life instead of giving it a much better battery life compared to SD810.

G5 will most likely be the successor to G2 that LG deserves. Since they can choose from NUCLUN 2 or SD820 I don't think battery will be any problem next year.

Dear readers, I just want to clarify a few things because there is some confusion.

        1. We won't be making any changes to our reviews - won't be adding paid (premium) features or similar nonsense. We just want to optimize their content and we need to gather some data in order to do that. It will be over in a few days.

        2. We are sorry to hear some of you are having problems with the click to expand feature. This is because you have an active ad-block browser extension and we'll try to fix this issue (no promises), but you will be fine again in a few days. Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding and your help! We really appreciate your patience.

        - Kyle

I wonder if this is a result of other things or just the Snapdragon 808. At any rate those measured times for video playback, browsing and just plain talking on the phone are abysmal. I don't think a 3500+ mAh battery would help much, sadly.

Personally I enjoy reading all the detail your reviews include which is why I rate them highly compared to other review sites. I would even welcome more details particularly on a phones LTE Band support and their relevance to specific countries (ie. many chinese phones dont support Band 20 which is used by all networks in UK).

Gsmarena should add 3g/4g browsing test to the battery life section. We don't always sit within WiFi range. Seriously. It's high time you included it. Please. Jesus. Include it already.

The earlier review system was way much better than the current one.

Why one earth would you want to hide anything and give option to reveal a particular section? Really bad thinking and initiative from whoever it was on GSMArena side.

                            Totally non-sense idea.

If someone doesn't want to read any particular section he/she can simply skip it himself/herself.

Why do you want to be bothered about it for a few such users and trouble many other users who read it start to end?

Please don't deteriorate the GSMArena Standards.

Please bring back the old review. A reader can always pass on what he/she don't want to read. Unlike in this new review when you click it, only a portion is shown.

Great review on the N5X. Just some feedback for the design changes, although I don't often pay attention to them for mid range devices, I do for the "premium" phones and love that this site has them all stacked up against each other.

If you guys get in heat from the manufacturers it's not your fault clearly their own so please don't change if you are feeling outside pressure.

For someone who just skips it when not needed, it's really easy for me to skip by scrolling down more.

One of the reasons I keep coming back to read gsmarena's reviews is that you provide NUMBERS (screen resolution, screen brightness, audio loudness, battery life, etc etc). Not all readers read or pay attention to those things but number are the only thing that counted.

Subjective adjectives used by other reviewers in other sites mean nothing and usually bias. Brightest screen, loudest speaker, longest battery life, thinnest body, etc etc you could continue... those mean nothing without the real numbers.

So far only gsmarena bother to gives us numbers. You have numbers & data to base your review on. You guys should be proud!!! So please don't remove those sections you think least enganging.
