Huawei Watch review: Smart and pretty

20 November, 2015
Smartwatches offer few practical uses, have terrible battery life, and are little more than plasticky toys – you’ve heard the rants. Well, while we’re waiting for developments on the first two counts, the Huawei Watch addresses the last one.

Thomas, 26 Jan 2022Hi is this smart clock waterproof so you can take a bath with itIt will survive a quick dip but it is not designed to be fully waterproof for swimming and the like. No watch needs to take a bath with you, instead it's a perfect time to charge them and the watch will be happy to return to your properly washed and dried wrist when you're done! A win-win for both parties.

I’m still using this watch now in 2022 ,still a great watch does what I need it to do, in my opinion still the best looking smartwatch, plus the fact I make my own faces helps to finish the watch off…

So if I run it's not enough
You're still in my head forever stuck
So you can do what you wanna do
I love your lies, I'll eat 'em up
          But don't deny the animal
That comes alive when I'm inside you

This is far better than Samsung Gear S2, in terms of quality and battery.

Unfortunately smartwatches have not reached the level of practicality where they appeal to the majority of consumers. Untill they make one with at least a month of battery life, a lot of people will not be getting one.

Angry Mobile Nerd, 25 Nov 2015I wouldn't expect to hear anything else from a Moto 360 own... moreI agree, it's not perfect, even in some aspects far from it. Especially battery.
But you are comparing a First gen device, with its 3rd gen, which comes 2 years later. And you know, even a two years old flagship isn't so relevant right now.

(Words from Gsmarena review : Motorola Moto 360, like many first generation devices, is as characterful as it is imperfect. )

after all, I wish they make better watches, I am really into LG Urbane 2nd edition. which is sadly very very thick.

Of course they're all going to be "proud" owners with no regrets. Wait until the 3rd generation Moto 360 DOES have a perfectly round display and instantly makes your "modern" timepiece obsolete. If you're happy you're happy, but I don't like to compromise. The Moto 360 engineers didn't design it to have the flat tire but engineering constraints put it there. It should be round but it isn't. Thanks, but no thanks.

Smuti, 21 Nov 2015Completly agree with you.GSM arena's own words in Moto 360 review :

"A watch is an even more intimate product than a smartphone, so design and tactility are extremely important. Moto 360 excels in both, so it is a safe pick for an Android Wear device despite its better-equipped competitors."

                      :)

And yes, for its design. It looks great on my hand, and it goes good with my clothes. It's a wearable, a fashion device.
yes, I'd like it better if it had a perfectly round display, but I think it looks way better than any other smartwatch out there right now (including Moto 2nd gen)

The new phones and tablets are 5-7mm thick and this mother is 11.3mm thick? I know they have limited space to jam all the components in but it is just too big and clunky to be appealing.

Have had it for a month now. Excellent watch. Except battery life that is not more than 2 days everything else is great.

Hehe, smart watches ... They're neither smart (weak) , nor watches (low stamina).

If you ask me the tech is 5-10 years too early. One of the primary indicators that Apple is now no different than any other monolithic tech company (Jobs would always wait for a tech to mature before launching it, for example old apple had "newton", but Jobs discontinued it and only re-introduced it as "iphone" more than a decade after, same with watches , they're 10 years too early)...

Optimist Prime, 21 Nov 2015Whoever reviewed this REALLY doesn't like smartwatchesMy thoughts exactly. Also, the Huawei despite being the best out there in terms of looks loses marks for its price but the Apple watch at $700 is somehow a better choice?

True it's very expensive but only the sapphire glass costs 120$ and for me it's a must.
The big surprise is the battery life...always on, all the notification on, wifi off, some face change...50 hours before shutdown
Don't update android wear to the last version...very bugged and battery life sucks.
                                    Buy watchmaker is fantastic
