Well, I think the Lumia 950XL is a great phone. I love Continuum and think the screen and camera are fantastic.
A couple of years ago, I went to all-Windows from all-Apple. But I'm going back to Apple (only for phone) to the iPhone 6S Plus (not the 7: I want a headphone socket). The fact is, there are too, too many apps I really want that just aren't available for Windows Phone. I had really hoped the Windows community would step up and push it, but it didn't happen.
The excellent 950XL just doesn't exist on the blogosphere, and I regret that this bold experiment appears to have failed.
I still love my Surface Book. l do think MSF have the drop on Apple for innovation now. But phones are Apple's bread and butter, and there is no doubt that Steve Jobs' reality distortion field extends from beyond the grave. I want the Lumia 950XL to succeed, but the fact is that I need the iPhone 6S Plus.

These 3 phones represent the top of its respective platforms in terms of large screen products.
I think the decisions, first and foremost, should first be decided by the platform itself.
The software and ecosystem are the biggest differentiating factor.
I have used them all.
I like iphone because of the sexy hardware, and some of the native iphone only apps. I like my communication on facetime. And I value privacy because I think Apple business model does not make use of my personal info to make money. The performance is very good too, especially when compare against Androids (which ever model). Now it has all the Mac office apps thrown in too, Keynote being my favourite. Down side is the cost for the phone, and I felt like an idiot paying so much for memory.
Samsung Note 5 is my current daily phone. I like it has a native built-in in Privacy app. The stylus is very useful for me to write remark on pictures, something i do very often. No other phone gives me this feature. The down side is that the performance is still not very good. You just don't feel the smoothness when comparing with iphone ( and even Microsoft).
Windows phone, is surprising very swift in its operation, even on a low end phone. I must say the UI is my favourite of the lot. I want to like this platform the most, but unfortunately the only downside, and is a big one, is that the app store is very limited. It is somewhat compensate by a full suit of office software, something android does not have.
The only other reason that I could think of in choosing a top end phone other than its platform, is the camera.
I don't play games on my phone.

I have both Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and Microsoft Lumia 950, and I must to say at Lumia has better image quality.

The note 5 camera are not natural but still win?lumia 950 XL and LG v10 have better calour and zoom also sharper

How's the experience with Continuum? Can iPhone 6s mirror excel/PowerPoint on TV in a similar easy way like Lumia 950 with Display Dock? Although iPhone 6s can do that but with HDMI adaptor while Lumia 950 might just work with any TV with USB?

Glad to hear the 950XL tested so well. Can basically ignore all the benchmarks since it's comparing apples to oranges... None of those benchmarks were made for windows phone and we already know windows phone is a less resource intensive OS and the 950XL has a killer cpu and tons of ram...
Confirmed that I'll be buying it soon to replace my 1020, at this point I'm waiting on a price drop or sale I guess would have paid retail if they were in stock last year but they weren't... I've been burned on microsoft price drops several times before. Not again.
It's also nice to see someone else realizes that the desktop/laptop doom-sayers were all idiots. People used to feel the need to upgrade every year but those products finally reached a point where people say "you know what? This does everything I need it to" and as a result they only upgrade when their old one breaks.

In my opinion article writer hasn't made proper Android OS choice. There are newer and mightier Android phones than Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on the market, like LG V10, Sony Zperia Z5 premium, Huawei Mate 8...

That translate to 22.5gb storage per hour recording. 32gb storage or sd card can handle that much. But, the continuos act of recording itself may heat the phone too much so I doubt that guy. In EU there is a 30 minute recording law for all digital recording device sold that is NOT a camcorder. So after reaching the legal limit of 30minutes a pop up saying your Lumia 950 XL is overheating will show up. Specifically it says, "Your phone is overheating and recording has been shut down". Acording to real life test it have nothing to do with phone temperature at all. Temperature remain static since minute 5 at 38.7 celsius but it still shut down recording after exactly 30 minutes.
