Some of the reviews mention the camera isn't as better as it was promised. If Xiaomi can match at least the S6 in photography, I'm grabbing one.

AnonD-152638, 17 Mar 2016Why would that be a deal-breaker? It seems to be one of th... morethe feels which makes the difference. currently using redmi note 3, no need to press any button, just swap your finger to unlock. maybe you dont mind, but i do really mind about it. this is kind of premium phone btw. i do have some suggestion for it, for example unlocking the phone just by touching the fingerprint sensor, if we press the home button for unlocking, will activate the camera instantly. or user can set whatever function they want.

"The sensor seems like the real flagship deal, at least on paper and, interestingly enough, Xiaomi managed to fit it inside the body without a lens bump. "
Sony fitted a bigger sensor in as thin and thinner bodies, in some of their their Z-line. Also with F/2.0 aperture.
Wihout OIS, on the other hand. But probably with more wide-angle on the lens.
Sony and Xiaomi puts the camera in the part above the display (others does as well, but not all), that helps in keeping the thickness down, as it doesnt have to sit behind the display. But that makes you wonder why Samsung didn't to the same with the S7, that way they could have perhaps gotten away without a camera hump altogehter (amoled screens are somewhat slimmer on the other hand). That placement above the screen and the fact that the lens does not stick out may increase the risk of smudging the lens while taking the phone out of your pocket. But Samsung makes other decision based on design, over functionality.
Too bad the low-light performance wasn't great, despite the OIS beeing the best yet in a mobile.
But the S7 has bigger pixels, brighter lens and also an OIS system even if not as good.
Still I probably would not get a S7 at it's retail price. Too bad the Mi 5 isn't officially availible in my country. Cause that has a really attractive retail price.

"The Xiaomi Mi 5 has no competition within its price bracket"
yupz, but xiaomi doesn't sell it outside china.
buying from third party adds 50% more to the price

AnonD-402029, 17 Mar 2016"not always on" fingerprint scanner is kind of dealbreaker ... moreWhy would that be a deal-breaker?
It seems to be one of the quickest solutions, unlocking almost instantly when you press the "home" key.
"The fingerprint scanner takes about 20 seconds to set up and instantly recognizes your finger from then on. Unfortunately, it isn't always on, but the screen unlocks immediately upon clicking the Home key - faster than the iPhone 6s."
The 20 second mentioned is setting it up to work. Not the delay when using it.
Always on would be a different matter, if the whole screen for example could read your fingerprint, but when you need to put your finger in a certain place, having to press on that place or just holding your finger there, wont make much of a difference.

AnonD-259899, 17 Mar 2016SD 820 efficiency is pretty good.indeed, 820 back again.
regarding this test unit (xiaomi prime)
i wonder if the pro version ( with ceramic) isn't available yet?
my opinion A class performance, good battery
although camera is behind s7 but not much.
all in all still impresive for the price tag (half s7 price).
if you like miui or want to try, this is a recommended phone.

I think there is no reason to buy Xiaomi Mi 5. Because its have 2/3 price of SGS7 which have better display, great performance of Exynos 8890,Branded,better camera, better design (opinion),better bundling of pre-order (Gear VR and Wi-Charger), TKDN (for Indonesia),No BM item and many more.
