HTC 10 hands-on: First play

12 April, 2016
The HTC 10 is like a great remix of all your favorite songs - the new flagship brings back UltraPixel and BoomSound, but nostalgia is mixed with a much-improved performance. Updated with more content!

Yes, seems that this time screen/body ratio is acceptable. Not best in class, but ok. S7 do slightly better (with a smaller screen, and it is more difficult to get good ratio with small screen), the edge do much better (see, a larger screen, and curved too), mi5 also is better, but the LG G5 is worse...

Good design, a tad too wide, but I like it...It's the price that is not OK, with HTC history and the few month difference I can not see the 10 ever match the street price of the s7. Official price is 50€ more, and I guess the street price will be at least 100€ cheaper for the s7 throughout it's lifecycle...This is not a good position to be for HTC...

Very attractive design and acceptable (to a certain extent) screen-to-body ratio but too TICK. Nova days everything above 8 mm is hardly bearable for me. HUAWEI managed to do it with P9 in terms of dimensions...
Still very promising package if the camera department proves itself and the price tag is a little bit lower than Galaxy s7/edge and Iphone 6s.

What about Qi wireless charging? I know it's not likely but it'd be nice to get a yes/no clarification.

                    Pricey yes way too much
The s7 is now less than 600$ but if you thibk about it the s7 doesnot pack enough hardware to justify a high price
No hifi audio or stereo speaker
Usb is still micro and 2.0 so it is old generation

Its downsides: capative keys - android is for customization - they should have added software keys as well

No dust proof i don't care much about water meters but dust is a major thing

A removable battery should make a return because these unibodies are a joke - what if you installed an app and it crashed your phone and you are not able to do anything only wait until the battery depletes?

Home key button shouldn't be there - companies must stop copying each other
A back one is more convenient

Other than that the phone is good
But I wouldn't buy a phone from an oem anymore because of the updates and ui where they leave it as the old one and only update the new ones so they milk you out

At least apple updates the ui of every phone true not all features throughout but the ui is consistent

It prevent accidental touching of the screen when u operate with one hand. Also in gaming if bottom bezel is too small it will be uncomfortable. I own Samsung Note 5 and I still feel thin bezel is little bit drawback for me. And this captive buttons also makes accidental touch while gaming. S7 they overcome this with game mode where it is sort of disabled while gaming

In India only lifestyle version will be available im so disappointed by their decision to not have snapdragon 820 variant in India otherwise i would have chosen to buy it.

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. Admittedly, I am an HTC fanboy, although I haven't owned one since the One X (still use it as a back-up phone, after 4 years). The one thing people held against HTC over all 3 generations of One M's were the damn thick bezels. Although not a problem for me, it was a valid point. As this year's flagships were announced, I searched for some numbers. The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a screen-to-body ratio of 70.63%; the LG G5 stands at 70.15%; the HTC 10 on the other hand, stands at 71.13%. HTC listened to the users, kudos to them. So, this year at least, compared to the competition, thick bezels can not be held against them.
