Sony Xperia X review: Rated X

20 May, 2016
There's a shift of command in the house of Xperia. The Sony Xperia X and its two siblings are taking over from the Xperia Z. A dynasty has come to an end. We hear the C and M families are being put out to pasture as well, soon it will be all X top to bottom.

Anonymous, 22 May 2016I also owned a Xperia Z2 and never had those cracking issues. Of course it's not happening to every unit out there. But this was the most disappointing thing for me; https://i.imgur.com/h0CsJkG.jpg Do Sony's still have those gapps or are they sealed by now? Talk about their build quality always bring up memories about this picture.

"there's a notification LED in the top loudspeaker"

is it as shitty as the one in the Z1C? hiding the LED behind the speaker grille is an elegant solution in theory, but i think the visibility is terrible on the Z1C. brightness is really low so sometimes i can't see it at all when outside. and even when at home with only moderate ambient light, the viewing angle resulting from the indentation makes it pretty much impossible to see the light at a distance

Take it as simple as that, you might not trust me now, but I am sure you would when you chill with Xperia phone one day.

Anonymous, 22 May 2016Yes, SD 810 was a failure and big rushed from Snapdragon. H... moreEven with dual heat pipes applied, sony still throttles sd810 too often to prevent overheat.
Fyi, just in case if you dont know, Throttles means "reducing clocks frequency" or "under clocks" (the opposite of overclocks in pc).

So dual heat pipes can not fully fix sd810 failure.

Sad...being a sony fans more 10 years. I would choose the xperia x over the redmi note3 even having same processor if the price are 25% more. But its 4x of the redmi note3 price! Apple, htc, sony please learn from samsung and huawei.

However, have you ever heard of an innovation called the dual heat pipe to reduced the overheating of the Z5? All the other companies ditch the SD 810 because they can't solve the problem like Sony did. In the end, Sony is more than practical than other companies.

Just do some research 'Sony Xperia Z2 gaps + self-cracking glass' on Google and you will learn why I never bought any newer Sony-phones. I had the k610i back in the day and that also needed ducktape to keep in one piece after one year of basic usage. Didn't even drop the phone once. And yes, the quality has probably gotten a bit better over the years... That remains to be seen.
