I don't know why people hate this phone especially the price tag.. if you guys tell this phone overpriced, then how about iphone price tag? or samsung price tag which is far more overpriced than apple? If you want a phone with reasonable price, then grab other brands like xiaomi or lenovo unless you think samsung price tag is reasonable

AnonD-66340, 21 May 2016It is true the price is high, but when people complaint abo... moreThere's a it more to it than that.
Are Apple's products over priced....yes. But the faultless and in many case more readily accessible customer service, plus the value retention and thus resale value go someway to offset that premium.
It's a simple fact that over a given time an iPhone will retain more value than any android, that's just the way it is. You pay £550 for an android and in 6 months try to sell it on, you'd be lucky to get £350 as the prevail price of that device will have likely dropped by as much as £100.
Pay £600 for an iPhone, and in 6 months you could get as much as £550 for it (I know, I've done it).
As for the X's camera samples, they are very good, but I can't see any reason to question GSMarena's conclusions in that area.

It is true the price is high, but when people complaint about the Sony's Pricing and the pay double the amount to iphone without any hesitation is a bit hypocrisy. And As for the Camera, just look at the samples that it produced. They are outstanding, and I have always see when these sites review Sony product, they just dig too much about the technical stuffs and then declare it mediocre. Such stories are never to be found on Samsung's or iphone's reviews.

Lex79, 21 May 2016Playing devils advocate for a sec, I would suggest there's ... moreYep. If Sony prices their products properly, then they'd do OK. If the battery life of their phones (which used to be their main selling point) didn't decline then I'd fully support them.
Other than those two things the only thing else I could criticise Sony for is that the front of their phone looks awkward and the bezels look bigger than they should be.
Two years ago I don't think any of these things were even problems for Sony.

Anonymous, 21 May 2016Oh yeah, like cheap Chinese craps! Including xiaomi, lenovo... moreHTC are not Chinese, Samsung are not Chinese, LG are not Chinese, all have superior flagships cheaper than this midranger. And incidentally, I don't think you can call Chinese manufacturers cheap anymore, their quality, design and specifications are improving every year!

AnonD-442781, 21 May 2016In reality what's not reasonable is releasing a mid-range t... morePlaying devils advocate for a sec, I would suggest there's nothing really wrong with this device except the price.
It's performance is fine, it's camera is very good, it's battery figures (whilst not mind blowing) are decent enough. The Qvono tech is aimed at long term battery stability more than anything else and only time will tell how effective it is on that front.
This device has the same issue the HTC A9 and the Galaxy Apha before it had, the initial asking price is just too high. Both were good devices in their own right, and after the price had fallen after a few months on the market, both represented good value.
The issue I see is that Sony is not in the position to play this kind of game, neither is HTC for that matter (but that's another topic), Samung is, their market presence is huge and can absorb a few blows here and there.
It would have been far better for Sony to aggressively price this device right out of the gate, in order to try to build market share. A few months from now is no good, the buzz will have worn off and there's always something new on the horizon.
To make matters worse Sony couldn't even see their way to including a quick charger in the retail package, and that's just lunacy. As it is for certain people to claim 'what you are getting for this price is OK'
That's just plain bais talking and makes no sense at all.

Tann Hauser, 21 May 2016Stop with the thick thing...
Yes its too expensive but con... moreIn reality what's not reasonable is releasing a mid-range that doesn't even have the SD652 and pricing it the same as flagships that were only released 2-3 months ago.
The galaxy a9 has a similar price and performance as the s6, and is a 6" phone with a 103 hour endurance rating. Its ludicrous to compare it to what Sony is doing, especially since the s7 is just 2-3 months older, and is part of the same generation.

... moreAll i see are just words, writing, letters and numbers like what all manufacturers say about their phones battery... wheres the actual evidence/real world test that it will do all that on the Sony xperia devices? So for now there just words to make Sony devices look good, the same way Samsung, Lg, and Chinese companies say about their phones battery.
Nice try though.

Yes its too expensive but con... more""Considering what you get its ok""
Are you serious? For that money, or even less you can get Z5, Galaxy S7, or TWO Xiaomi Mi5
Not to mention that some older devices Like OnePlus2, Xperia Z3 or Galaxy S6Edge still would kick this model in the teeth, and typical users would be happy using it for next 1-2years.
And its not about chipset, because today mid-range models work the same as more expensive chipsets in everyday usage or even more demanding tasks like games(typical games from top10 on Android Market).
Its about whole package that you get: Average camera. Good, but not best screen. Average speakers. Not that great battery. Good but not "premium" finish and package that remind me cheap phones from operators where all you get is phone... and standard charger.
Compare that to other phones for that price, because its not fight against mid-range phones that OEMs label as "premium" because they put it on metal body instead of plastic.
People are not ldiots, if they see latest flagship for 700$ and bunch of Pseudo premium mid-range phones that just look good and cost 700$... guess what they would pick?
Its annoying that OEMs make phones that should cost 400$(and still make profit) but they put ""PREMIUM"" label on them because of "metal frame" and they ask 600-700$ for it and people like you catch that bite.

Of course You have to have the dedicated quickcharger to charge quickly, like on any other phone
Its a very good and most important feature NOT to be mentioned in battery comment ;-)

Yes its too expensive but considering what you get its ok.
What isnt reasonable is comparing its price to better devices that had their price drops already.
Its like saying A9 price that we talked about is reasonable, when you can get a galaxy s6 for the same price...
None of newcomers to market price is reasonable.
Fact.

Please, please, please add app launch speeds and "retention in memory" metrics in your performance review!
You only measure peak performance and that matters only very little in every day performance unless one is gaming. That's why benchmarks on mobiles are not very useful.
By measuring app launches and "memory retention" you measure something closer to the every day performance that most people experience.
For example see this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=233f0ewFWGk
Exynos is far faster than Snapdragon, yet your benchmarks showed them (falsely) to be of near identical performance.
By starting reviewing your phones more truthfully you'd also bring a change to the industry.
Up until now there's an arm's race on mostly meaningless specs that only make benchmarks look better.
By measuring the actual performance of a phone you'd force companies to care about things that actually make a phone faster (IO speeds, RAM management, etc).
Please, please, please heed to this advice. This is the 3rd time that I'm making. You can help change the industry to the better.

Tann Hauser, 21 May 2016Are you speculating or, knowing? There is a site called qn... moreYes, I know. But those are just claims. No third party has confirmed it. What can be seen is they claimed phones would charge faster, and gsmarena have said that it charges slowly. So they don't exactly have any credibility when they claim batteries don't deteriorate as much.
