Lenovo Moto Z and Phab2 Pro hands-on: First look

08 June 2016
At its Tech World event, Lenovo revealed how it both competes against and cooperates with Google. The new Moto Z flagship has its own take on modular smartphones, something the search giant has been trying to get off the ground for a few years. Then there's the Tango pioneer Phab2 Pro, which is Google brains running on Lenovo brawn.

Its supposedly a 'smart charger' as it only charges when its below 80%, making it more efficient.

Does the power pack charge the normal battery or is it a proper external source of power? Because if it only charges then the 2000mah would be reduced to closer to 1000mah, plus it would take time to charge, and it would easily heat up.

And how much thicker does it make it? It looks to still be relatively thin.

I prefer lg's modularity as it actually brings more to the table like a removable battery which i think should exist among all.. enougj with the iphone copying and the removal of features

There's nothing great or good out of a unibody

Way back remember there is this Phillip's GSM phone that is so thin, that they gave 2 battery, because the thin battery is so thin and small in power. I had the phone, so the moto Z is kinda retro to me....

First Motorola that I don't like
what I also do not like is that they measure the thickness of the phone on the thin part of the phone and not the thickest
                      (where the camera bump is)

kris, 10 Jun 2016The Moto Z force is a US Verizon exclusive. The rest of the... moreNope. Both the Moto Z Force and the regular Z will be available unlocked worldwide. Verizon is apparently getting both of them earlier though, as Moto Z Droid Edition and Moto Z Forcé Droid Edition.

So neither will be carrier exclusive (after a while, at least). My only concern with these I how much they'll go for. I'm guessing 400 for the regular Z, 650-ish for the force. I'm OK with that, but what about the Mods? That's the whole point with these devices.
-Battery packs should start at 40 bucks, anything beyond that would be a mistake.
-That camera mod should be announced ASAP. It will be without a doubt what set these phones apart from the rest of the bunch. I'm guessing it'll go for at least 150, so it should be quite good and get great reviews... otherwise it'll tank.
-Those stereo speakers should have been built into the front of the phone, with the scanner on the unlock button a la Sony. Past that mistake, I doubt many people will get them. Probably about 100, otherwise they'll probably tank as well.
-FOR THE LOVE OF SWEET JEEBUS someone make an e-ink mod! It'd be so amazing to be able to use the phone sipping battery like with the Yotaphone!
