Samsung Galaxy Note7 review: Thinking Big

16 August 2016
All great speeches start with carefully prepared notes. For yet another year Samsung has taken the role of a modern-day orator, pushing for a return to personal handwriting against the trend of detached digital text.

ithehappy, 16 Aug 2016All things considered, probably yes, but look at the chart ... moreThe posted numbers in this review are VERY DIFFERENT from what displaymate came up with,.. also brightness numbers.
Just Noticable Color Difference is where this screen feel from 'excellent' to 'very good', which does depend on the profile being run.
Whilst I do not doubt GSMArena did their research well; there is something off about the numbers between both review pages,.. suggesting that the auto light balancing might not have been entirely defeated for these reviews.(it now needs light shining on the back as well as the front to neutralise this feature somewhat/get 'auto brightness' to highest possible).
In real world usage I would take this screen hands down, due to how it is implemented!

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2016Worse battery life for talk time than Note 5. Are you kiddi... moreINgress protected speaker setup might require 'more power' to get to the same volume,..or might be louder on this phone... if things were volume matched....(the note7 was twice as loud on the volume measurements),.. this phone would outperform the Note5 for 'call duration' very likely...

To be fair 24hours of talktime would be enough to satisfy my needs, give or take (take actually sixteen hours from that number), between charge cycles in a heavy use scenario.
Real world usage is what matters...
People who extensively use their phones for calls should be on headsets or bluetooth, both of which would return this phone to better runtimes, with calls, than the Note5 (assuming good reception).
      Too Cool ay!

Can you test the audio of the Snapdragon model? Your audio test seems to only reference the Eyonx model.

Worse battery life for talk time than Note 5. Are you kidding me? 28 hour Note 5 , 23 hour Note 7 = FAIL

AnonD-531500, 16 Aug 2016Honor V8 has same specs and cost £370 .. http://www... moreOh no it doesnt. The Mali T880MP4 should be about 70% weaker than the T880MP12, the Exynos 8890 has some of the best cpu performance in single-thread and multi-thread applications on the Android World and well, the storage and ram on the Note 7 should still be made on a lower litography scheme and have higher power efficiency/read, writes and access performance. All that if combined with a Nexus phone would literally be a high-end laptop :p. Also the display is like the distance from North America to Antarctica in terms of superior quality. But, i guess whoever wants Touchwiz and really slow update and android iteration release, will be pleased with the speed for some time (Samsung phones get slower with time x-x, forcing ya to buy the next)!

Bang-for-buck, 16 Aug 2016Considering price & specs ZTE Axon 7 is the best choiceAll thinds considered (price, especially),the ZTE looks pretty good news, next to an ageing concept. My bet is on the Note though mainly to ,ZTE could up its game by launching with Cyanogen Mod rather than its own software.

It is a matter of time Samsung gets surpassed by the Chinese firms. This phone is not a real phablet anymore, nor a business tool.Time will prove I am right.

this is the most complete phone yet. respect for samsung it maybe be better with 4000mah and stereo sound (saved for 2017 maybe)
i will wait till the price drop to 400€ (after 1year)

Okay, all fine, but I don't understand the Display part! Why on earth would Samsung make the Basic mode more saturated? The point of Basic mode is to have natural colours, I just don't understand why the results are worse than S7 or Note 5!
