Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime review: A closer look

26 August 2016
The Redmi 3S is the latest Xiaomi smartphone to be launched in India, the biggest market for the Chinese manufacturer outside of its home country. The 3S comes in as a replacement for the now ageing Redmi 2, which has been quite popular and has been one of the best phones in its price range for quite some time now.

AnonD-479301, 26 Aug 2016I read 9 reviews till now about 3s prime. All 9 says it ... moreI am really interested to see if GSMArena can mention a single phone in this price (6999 or 8999) which outperforms Redmi 3S/Prime. I am sure, currently there is none in India.

Almost, all of the reported issues discussed in this this review are nothing but a bunch of software problems which would easily go away with a software update. However, it is to be noted that Xiaomi is pushing half-baked software onto their devices in a hurry to quickly bring their products to market. This seems to be negatively working for them despite of VFM hardware.

Turning preview into review is taking too long. Week is passed and still no battery rating... Looks like its battery just can't die :)

AnonD-416595, 27 Aug 2016When it comes to hardware, the note 3 might be better, but ... morealthough i don't own a redmi note 3 . but i can tell you this, that a massive seller like redmi note 3 won't be left out of an upgrade.. xiaomi would face severe backlash for this if that ever happens simply because the number of people backlashing will be so many.. if xiaomi is short on resources then they will cut out an upgrade from some other model in order to focus all efforts on Redmi note 3 ...

First ever review By GSMArena.com to which I am strongly disagree. Redmi 3S Prime is awesome device. Using it since almost 2 weeks and did not face any concerns which GSMArena.com is taking in the review. Mi has changed the definition of budget smartphone.

AnonD-479301, 26 Aug 2016I read 9 reviews till now about 3s prime. All 9 says it ... moreAs someone who's been using this phone for a fortnight, I would suggest you pay heed to the dozen other positive reviews and buy it. This review makes no sense to me at all.

The performance is fantastic. I have not played any games but I'm a heavy day-to-day user and haven't experienced any significant lags or scrolling issues. Compared to the Nexus 5X that I upgraded from, this is a screamer. The fingerprint sensor is very quick and, to my memory, has never failed. Now that this article mentions it, I have noticed that sunlight optimisation feature kick in a few times but it's nowhere near as annoying -- or even noticeable -- as they say it is. It gets warm sometimes, but which phone does not? My Nexus 5X used to become uncomfortably hot every time I put even the mildest amount of stress on it. This one is a cool customer.

The battery -- oh, the battery! I wanted a 5-inch phone with a battery that I could trust would last me 24 hours, no matter what I did, and this phone delivers. You CANNOT kill this battery in less than a workday. You just cannot. And this is with Bluetooth turned on and connected to a Moto 360 and a Bluetooth headset throughout the day, Wi-Fi and 4G enabled, display at automatic brightness, two SIM cards, fitness and movement tracking, Google Now and high accuracy location enabled (with extensive use of location reminders), about three hours of calling and screen-on time each day and about an hour's worth of listening to audiobooks, among other things. This thing has a beast of a battery!

Once again, I do not understand this review at all. The people writing it look at something like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and conclude with "Few devices manage to combine business and pleasure as completely as the Samsung Galaxy Note7 does. We look forward to using it for both in the days ahead." And Xiaomi produces a device at 1/6th - 1/8th the cost, that fits way better in your hand and lasts you much longer, while still doing almost everything the $900 phone does, and they lament that "we couldn't help but be slightly underwhelmed" and "the Redmi 3S is merely good for the price and nothing more". Hah!

                                    Talk about bias.

Using this phone from 3 days . this phone is really good for the price range . I m surprised with the negative review of gsmarena .
                                        Pros
                                        1. Battery life is excellent .
                                        2. Built good is good , display is good but can be better .
                                        3. Fingerprint sensor is cherry on the cake .
                                        4. Plenty of space and RAM
                                        5. No lags in day to day use.
                                        Cons
                                        1. Camera is not up to the mark .but it is expected for the price range.
If you want good camera then spend more money and go for oppo or motog.
Verdict - best phone for the price range . buy this over redmi note 3 16gb version if you want more space and RAM .and also a compact phone. Otherwise spend extra 40$ for redmi note 3 32gb version.
