LG V20 review: Twice as bright

23 September 2016
If the LG V20 was a superhero - and we're not convinced that it's not - its superpower would be to have two of everything (or more!). Two screens, two cameras... twice!, four DACs, two apps on the screen, the list goes on and on.

Gosh...the phone with big black Bessel is still here. Hello LG. It's 2016 with trending rimless or semi-rimless IP67 (minimum) features mate.

You are sooner or later doomed out of the game 5555

Would they add bigger battery, dual sim, pen, ipxx, 128GB internal mem(mainly for when using dual sim) they would be able to fight hdr note7. Its also very bad time as its close to next gen of phones like surface/S8/XZpremium/... that will be unveiled soon. Same for note7 that got so much of half year old hw. Its no longer about choosing phablets as even such will come. For phone to be on top for at least an year - is what I expect from flagship.

You know it's one damn good phone when there's only 2 cons that too completely useless depending on one's perspective.

AnonD-442781, 25 Sep 2016Is it beyond you to realise that it isn't even out yet?it's not long before it will be available ...like one week or so ..I saw before that they added upcoming iPhone somewhere at the end of review .... the reason why XZ is not included however is bc it's not a phablet just like they didn't include for example S7 or HTC 10 , they included only similar sized phones ... so calm down fanboys ;)

The Qualcomm versions of galaxies get similar scores and sometimes better than their exynos counterpart. And sometimes the htcs with Qualcomm score slightly better.

But let me tell you that wolfsan audio dac has also produced superior sound quality in the exynos devices

Consumers do buy phablets because of bigger, better battery life and a bigger, nicer display. What makes you think many people opted for the iPhone 7 Plus over 7? It wasn't solely on dual cameras and more RAM. People also buy phablets for longer battery life and a beautiful, big display to look at.

LG is defeating a couple of purposes of buying a phablet. They haven't offered a great display and battery life in THREE YEARS! And this when flagships were still mid-sized. LG peaked with the G2 which ironically didn't have a removable battery and microSD slot. Ever since the G3, both battery life and display has constantly taken a hit.

The best flagship WITH a removable battery suffers from poor endurance again. What a shame. Kinda defeats the purpose of removable battery, ya think? Then the display which tends to be the biggest battery drainer is mediocre and plagued with light bleeding and color inaccuracies. LG blew it again. Not to mention the release of this phone by not capitalizing on the Note7 recall.

I have never been a big Samsung fan. But by hating them for so long, I was fooled by pretenders like HTC and LG thinking the alternative brands were cooler and better. I was wrong. Samsung is the true king and reason why they are popular. They are best in class in several hardware aspects. Avoid the HTC 10 and LG V20 unless you enjoy inferior phones where their resell takes a nosedive.

In 2-3 years, you will look back at 2016 and say the Note7 or S7 edge was the best smartphone of that year. The HTC and LG were just also-rans just like the M8, M9, 10, G4, V10, G5, and V20 were in their respective years. Also-rans. Don't get cute. Apple or Samsung has had the best smartphone of the year consistently throughout this decade.
