HTC Bolt preview: First look

11 November 2016
The first thing that comes to mind as I learn about the new HTC Bolt is the Verizon-exclusive HTC Thunderbolt, a very successful smartphone from 2011. Some things never change, don't they? HTC has now teamed up with another US carrier, Sprint, to release an exclusive device which introduces a new connectivity feature.

Just bought a new Bolt for $124. Read the reviews and agree that it probably wasn't a $599 phone when originally sold. Have found the camera to be very good imho and have not had any overheating issues. battery life is good. Easily gets through a day.

I have no idea what HTC is thinking. Who is doing this? Are they intentionally running HTC into the ground?

I also don't understand what people would actually buy this phone. It's objectively worse than anything else on the market, and it's $600.

Just die already, HTC. I hate to see you suffer. You were one of my favorite companies, but you went downhills. You've reached rockbottom.
            Please, die.

HTC is trying to attempt suicide. This company has no marketing strategy & as well as 0% care for consumers. They only make handsets for blind, deaf & dumb people who just to buy mobile with no knowledge.

This got me excited. I thought it is a bigger screen HTC 10 with IP certification. But it all fell apart when I saw SD 810 (and they call it Bolt? :) ) and not the same camera as on HTC 10.
I think I'll go for S7 edge. Waiting for some time for a proper alternative but can't find one (maybe LG V20 - waiting for more camera reviews).

If this came with MediaTek Helio x20 and was at least $200 cheaper, it would be a good option. With Snapdragon 810 and $600 price tag why would anyone buy this ?

HTC, please stop making sub par phones, stick with your flagships. Tick every box and continue, people will come around, these middle runners are woeful and i can't see the point. Why buy this over the 10? For water resistance? Stupid decision.

What a surprising strange specification. In the meantime it looks like all Chinese companies do better marketing (defining features and place their product in certain user / price categories) than HTC.
If they continue like this, they will soon compete with Blackberry...

So they name it "Bolt" yet they use a last-year, slower and hotter chipset ? Way to mislead customers...

Looks very much like HTC is on a deliberate suicide mission. Hot grill 810, lack of headphone socket....If waterproofing requires the elimination of headphone socket its better to keep it without IP rating. Phones are something that we use on a daily basis. When was the last time you thought about an underwater snap?
