Oppo R9s review: Strumming along

5 December 2016
Oppo has always offered great build quality on their smartphones and hey have outdone themselves with their latest R9s. The design is far from original, but the execution trumps most phones on the market - it’s thin and light and the six-string antenna design is the first of its kind.

I bought this on September to have a separate mobile from work life, so I have now got a 1 Plus X and this new Oppo R9s. It comes with 128GB internal storage, working very smooth and convenient for screenshots as well.

Camera quality is very good, using the lens from Sony, both HDR and Ultra HD gives you stunning pictures. However, do note that it has poor image stability function so if you don't hold it firm and steady, you tends to get blurry pictures. If you solve this problem, the photos are great!

So far I have no crashing problem with my R9s. I downloaded 4 games on my mobile, tried mobile legends and AOV as well, no lagging and the graphics are good.

Sometimes, I bring it to site to take videos, video quality is good and clear, less noise and it doesn't heat up as fast as my 1 Plus X, or others: S5, Xperia TX, J5....

                I am a happy user. :)

                      Oppo R9s review
Recently, a sub-genre of the 5.5" premium mid-range market emerged and the R9s is among the best of them. These phones focus on camera performance and battery life, without going full flagship.

The camera is certainly flagship grade on paper - with the latest Sony sensor that supports Dual Pixel autofocus and a very bright f/1.7 lens plus 4K 2160p video capture, the Oppo R9s challenges the best of the 2016 camera phones. A 16MP camera on the front promises great selfies too.

Oppo chose to power the phone with an efficient (if not fast) Snapdragon 625 and paired it with a generous helping of memory - 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

You won't see brashly advertised, but the phone bears a 5.5" AMOLED screen, which will render the vibrant ColorOS theme beautifully

Look, what was bad in Z5? SD810. Except that, t had SD card, dual stereo speakers, no fingerprints magnet "frosted glass" and waterproofing.
What was bad in LG G4 AND Moto X pure? SD808 coupled with QHD screen. both had excellent cameras, and beautiful leather and wooden backs.

One thing I realised : Oppo is certainly nice when it comes to design language. All of Oppo phones, including mid-range and some entry-level ones are made to look like iPhones. But I have no friends who use Oppo so I can't really confirm about its real world usability.
But thanks a lot gsmarena, Your reviews certainly matter (at least to me)

AnonD-523334, 06 Dec 2016Is it only me or gsmarena is praising every phone they are ... moreYou're right that all the new phones released these days are very good; mid-range has basically caught up with flagships and even the low-end phones aren't all that bad. Perhaps rather than being more critical, reviewers could focus on what differentiates a particular device. Some folks really need an IR blaster and a radio, some need the latest updates ASAP, size is a big deal, and so on. I'm impressed with a lot of phones and I enjoy reading about them but it is annoying when some reviewer just nitpicks at little details (it's like being able to walk on water and having someone say it's just because you can't swim :-))
