ithehappy, 09 Feb 2017Neither of these phone have any better camera than S7 or Pi... moreThey camera on the Huawei Mate 9 is definitely better than the S7 but maybe abit lower than the Google Pixel and iPhone. The V20 also has a pretty decent camera, but falls short of the S7.
The EMUI skin on the Huawei Mate 9 is even faster than Touchwiz and the google pixel. The mate 9 is the fastest Android smartphone along with the OnePlus 3t.
You cant really compare prices with the S7 as thats pretty old now (you can find it for around £300), but its definitley alot cheaper than the iPhone 7.

Lolzzzzz at all of your comments
Now a day if you buy any flagship it will do the job and gsmarena made this comparison because there isn't any new flagship around and both of the mobiles under discussion are recently got available to masses even though released way earlier
Secondly they are true phablets with large screens only exception is s7plus cause it's really compact no doubt
Else I have Mate 9 and I bought it over V20 cause there was an offer I got it for almost 400 USD here in UAE but accidentally I found a very good phablet
And I own iPhone 7 plus but my daily multimedia driver is no doubt Mate 9
Lg v20 is a very good phablet but when it comes to over all edges Mate 9 is better
And sound of mate 9 is extremely acceptable at all
Camera hell yeah
Night quality is also good not the best but good and as far as people are saying and imposing forcefully S7 edge and pixels so to all of them s7edge is history now they are only here because of the failure of Note 7 and Samsung fans have nothing to mention so that's why they are bringing it again and again
Pixels lolzzzzz what's the benefit of using android was its skins and custom roms now vanilla seriously and the excuse is speed and performance then go back and check it against op3 it beats the hell out of pixel
And if it's up to speed and performance of a smart phone then iPhones will always be ahead to androids no matter how hard I hate it and we hate it
Mate 9 is one hell of a master piece but not for idiots who just copy paste the voices of reviewers and say bla bla bla about it go and spend some money on your own buy it use and then you will love it as well
Who ever here prefer other mobile including me as well is because of the reason that they had normally invested in it nothing else and when review get negative they feel offended lolzzzzz human nature
And Samsung well Samsung is a giant and being a freak to mobiles I expect perfection from them nonetheless

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2017I would take the Mate 9 over the v20 any day : Better batte... more"I could care less about the display or camera tbh"
Just get a much cheaper Xiaomi Note 3 then. Its battery last much longer than the Mate 9 hands down. No point getting Mate 9 for yourself since you care less about display and the camera.

I'd get the Mate 9 for the bigger screen alone. Probably will after my contract with current phone is over or close to being over.

"Strangely, the Mate 9 uses a higher bitrate here than for the 2160p videos (34Mpbs)"
Mate 9 uses a different compression for 4k videos, and therefore the bitrate is different.
According to Huwei: "The Huawei Mate 9 supports 4K video recording with optical image stabilization. It also uses the H.265 video compression standard, allowing for video file size compression of up to 50%."

Good job Huawei.
G5 beat S7 in Gsmarena comparison. V20 is same or may be hair better.and Huawei beats v20. Good job Huawei. but there is a catch.
G5 and S7 were tie in still images. G5 had fast focus, S7 had fastest. But there is always a wide angle camera on G5 and stills were sharper.
But G5 beat S7 in video quality. And v20 also beat Huawei in video quality. And this time sound is even better.
So I don't think Huawei will beat s7 in still or video .
V20 has arguably best camera overall (both still and video)
But pixel is undisputed king of stills. V20 best video camera hands down.

Neither of these phone have any better camera than S7 or Pixel or iP7, their skins are also one of the worst out there I have heard, and all these at not much lower price than a Pixel or S7! I don't get the point!

Very good comparison. My only gripe was the piece on native resolution in games. As of course the V20 would falter there with QHD, because the Mate 9 is still rendering at FHD and suffers nothing in that matter. The factor that the V20 kept decently close frame rates at double the resolution is pretty commendable for that SoC.
Also, fully agree that LG needs to work on their auto photo processing...many issues can be fixed in manual mode, but, auto suffers.
