Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ hands-on: First encounter

29 March 2017
After a month of what seemed like never ending barrage of leaks, Samsung has finally (and officially) announced its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. This marks the company's first major smartphone release since the sad demise of the Galaxy Note7 last fall, which prompted the company to implement a new 8-point battery safety check to the S8 and all future devices.

Oh and also it has a small battery. Only 3000mah. Wow. Really nothing new here other than a bigger screen with less bezels and a new chip. It was and will just continue to remain so overhyped.

It's just me or it really looks like htc u ultra at the back

let me just take a moment to say that..having used glass sandwiches mostly, i'd say they s7 edge gives a better grip for the claw hold rather than a regular glass sandwich like zenfone 3...its subjective but its there..i'd say the older iphones had good grip too
and after seeing the silver s7 edge side by side the s8...the e7 edge looks like an awkard teenager

Well this phone is postively overhyped. There is nothing new or ground breaking here. It is also missing a feature of basically every flagship phone out today, a dual camera (a wide angle would've been great or are they afraid of "copying"?). Awkward placement of fingerprint scanner is another. And why not just double tap to wake (again maybe afraid of "copying". Why design a whole pressure sensitive part with an always on home button and special haptic feedback)? Based on first impressions I would rather get a G6 then. It has more features that are more usable and practical and that just work. It also looks good.

Nice, but having S6 edge plus would wait I guess untill S10 comes up to upgrade...This doesnt offer anything better...

The phone is gorgeous. Absolute stunning looks. Accessories are just too much though. Maybe they are sure nobody would buy those accessories separately.

The only interesting thing about the phone is the image stacking. That will really improve picture quality. I wonder how fast it is and if it's always active or not. Will it blur images if there's the slightest movement?

Pretty cool external keyboard case though!
Once Samsung adds back removable battery and ir blaster I'll return to Samsung. I doubt it will happen :'(. They were the best in that field.
