Nokia 6 review: Back in black

03 April 2017
Nokia, rebooted. The Finnish brand that was once synonymous with mobile phone had gone missing since Microsoft acquired the company’s smartphone business in 2014.

Nice for people who doesn't seek performance where any good looking phone will do. I appreciate the build quality but they should have at least went with the SD625 which is not the latest and fastest but with awesome battery life despite being faster in CPU and GPU than the 430.

Skip this , 430 too slow . I bet if i do lots of mutitasking , it will lag , ill wait for nokia 6

Nothing special except: Extremely sturdy phone! Look for comment below, just "Sturdy", "Tank" or "build quality"!

"Awkwardly placed fingerprint sensor" ? What is it mean ? Front mounted fingerprint sensor is commonly used by samsung , apple, htc and others

Using a device with 28nm SoC (Vibe K4 Note), my next device will surely be one that uses a more advanced chip, 16nm or 14nm minimum. Can't get enough of the battery life.
Enough of 28nm, skip 20nm, 14nm should be mainstream.

SD430 with adreno 505 is as good as SD615 and miles ahead of SD425 which lacks 4 cores and only using lowly adreno 308.. That's why SD430 is called midrange.. And you think you are smarter than the reviewer hah

"The Nokia 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset - a midrange Qualcomm SoC"

Really? The 430 is a low-edn chip, not mid-range. Mid-range is the Snapdragon 6xx series. Let's face it, Nokia is trying to sell a low-end spec phone with a mid-range price. Considering its 2nd SIM is 2G in a world where 2G networks being shut down, "Nokia" is continually being out of touch with the progress of technology.

Thanks so much for this review GSMArena! The 6 may not be a powerhouse, but it's perfect for a user like myself. Some Angry Birds, some calls, some WhatsApp,some video calls and some porn.

The only downside is the washed out colours from the camera. But I can live with that. It's not a deal-breaker. Thanks again!

I think this is the Chinese version of the phone not the international one. Camera photos from the ones on MWC looks greater than the ones on this review.

Straight fight with Nokia 5/6 with Moto G5/G5+. Build/quality vs specs. Still waiting on the Samsung J-series 2017 to see how that compares.

Just wish Nokia used the Snapdragon 625 - I think buyers/fans would be happy to spend $20/30 more if it was present.

I'm very curious about the buld quality of the Nokia 5. If it is as good as on the Nokia 6, I will probably pick it up as back-up/vanilla android experiment phone. The copper one looks really cool in pictures at least.

I'm a bit let down by the display in the 5, 720p should really stop at 5 inches or rather slightly below.
In the 6, I'm let down by the chipset. For that price, it should have had a slightly better chipset.

The model names (numbers) feels like an issue. Adding production year to a model number to set them apart is confusing an can lead to people getting the older model by misstake.
I also like it when there are series, so it's easier to look at the model name and know a bit of what is to be expected. There have been devices by some makers, that have taken an unexpected turn for the worse in one department with the next release. Build quality, camera, and even chipset and storage are examples from the past. It's so much better when there are several of series by a brand, so that if the brand does make changes that makes the next model inferior in one way or another, it can be moved to a different series instead. That way potential buyers can feel sure that the next version in the same series is always at least as good as the previous one.

also, the results in this video dont really show softness but maybe im wrong. it is certainly odd though maybe a defect in the model?

For full-size headphones with high impedance i would recommend LG G6(Korean version), LG V20. Other good alternatives are G5 with HiFi Plus module and maybe Axon 7 from ZTE (which has beastly powerful amp)
