Xiaomi Mi 6 review: Social climber

26 May 2017
Seven years in the making. That’s what Xiaomi says and you can feel the pride of a job well done. Is it arrogance? Maybe. And it may be surprising but not completely unfounded. A five-inch screen in a hot, curved metal-and-glass body. A dual camera with 2x optical zoom. A Snapdragon 835. The Xiaomi Mi 6 has many virtues and well… modesty isn’t one of them.

But in good-light condition, I don't see the result as anywhere "awful".

If you wish to get a better picture at lower light, better get a DSLR camera to do the job.

The omission of Band 20 (LTE800) is major downside for this device (and most Xiaomi phones in general) will cause problems in almost all EU countries (and also some non-EU) and should be noted in the first page listing, not brushed away in the networking section.

Xiaomi won me again. just confused between U11 or Mi6. Weather to buy a full flagship or an affordable flagship. but if affordable, I'll go Mi way.
                Points for Mi6 :
                1)Smaller 5" - I love small phones
2)miui - I like more than any UI
                3)battery life
                4)cheaper
                U11
                1)better camera
2)better audio (but practically not so significant coz most of Hindi songs are mostly available in normal bitrates.
3)I won't say U11 loos better. Cos while its prettier on the back, much uglier on the front.
So apparently Mi6 winning. But if you can remind me any of major plus points of U11 pls.

Most of us don't (we have mirror less cameras which are 1000 times better than any mobile camera). In any of the rest it kill all the rest of the flagships.

No gimmicks (1080p looks the sales as 1440p in such a small screen, no useless aspect ratoos), one handed use for a good part, ample battery life despite the small size of the device, top performance that will last for ages (only flagship thiusnfar with SD835 + 6GB of ram), miui support that never ends (Xiaomi supports her phones for 3years plus).

Apart from the camera there are no weaknesses for this phone.

XZP is 69% w a nigger screen which is twice as bad. To add insult to the injury XZP uses the chin for almost nothing. This one uses it for Fingertip/buttons so it's not as if it is going to waste. Lastly Xiaomi manages to put the same size of battery in a much smaller body (resulting to a better battery life).

All show an economic use of space which Sony lacks by heaps...

The markup cons is pretty subjective though. Blame greedy 3rd party retailers because of the high price. For the price, the phone is still the cheapest 2017 flagship.
Bezels? Still small enough for me. Just because galaxy s8 has damn good body to screen ratio doesnt mean every smartphone should be like that. And most importantly, mi 6 bezels are smaller than iPhone's.

Would love to upgrade from my mi5 prime to mi6.
My personal cons for this phone is head phone jack.

[deleted post]There are no official global unit, only taiwan unit. So you have to wait. But, whenever I read the review, GSM arena hardly say something bad about samsung phone. Paid to give positive comment as what other commentor said. Haha. even high end Samsung will lag after a few month , they never mention that. Keep praising the ui

I'll wait 3 more month to see if there are more stable custom rom. If there are. Then it's a choice for me. Right now is not the right time. Even everyone know miui suck up ram too much. Currently I'm using redmi note 4, the second day direct install lineage OS. Pretty much the same thing I'll do if I buy mi 6. But I'll wait until more stable rom is out

No offense but I think XZ Premium isn't the only terrible low light flagship shooter after all.

AnonD-665246, 27 May 2017Why Sony XZ Premium is missing from comparison in PERFORMAN... moreThat's hilarious, Samsung paying not to include Sony in a Xiaomi review. You surely made my day. The reason Sony Xperia XZ Premium is missing from the performance section is because the phone does not fall into the same category with the Mi 6 - those two have the chipset in common and nothing else, And more importantly their price difference is huge. Finally, the onscreen benchmarks of the XZP run on 1080p instead of 4K (which is not Sony's fault) and will hardly give some value here. BUT! We have added Sony Xperia XZ Premium in the charts for the sake of comparison. Hope it helps. ;)
