OnePlus 5 review: Doing the math

Strange that with a name like that OnePlus doesn't know simple addition. Oh well, tetraphobia is real and many product lines avoid the number 4, so it's anything but odd for a Chinese company to skip straight to 5. That, and the 3T was sort of like a 4.

At this price there's simply no point on getting a one plus vs other manufacturers,

Its launch price of $479 is way too high, compared with what you get, let me take another flagship for example, the Sony Xperia XZ, right now its selling for $453, and its way ahead of the one plus 5, yes the OP5 has the SD 835 but its the SD 820 is already beastly fast, BUT the XZ has water resistance, front facing stereo speakers, and better software support (yes in the android word sony is the best, only defeated by Google with its pixel line),

So there's simply no reason why to get the OP over other flagships.

    I don't know why are you guys bragging about the looks of OP5 with iphone 7 plus. Yes it has some resemblance with the placement of the dual cameras and it ends there. But the OP5 looks EXACTLY same as the oppo r11 both front and back, dual cameras and the materials used. Check it out. It makes sense as OnePlus's largest shareholder is oppo so they are not 'copying' anyone else's design. The oppo r11 is placed as a low-mid range phone and it's sad that op5 uses the same chassis. Op3 and op3t was looked far better imo.

Even if by some miracle you were able to buy one on June 20th and have it shipped to you by June 22nd (which I doubt), there's no way you'd have had it long enough for all your "friends" to be amazed by the camera (unless you're just pathetic enough to have invited them all over for a 'meet my OP5' party).

      Seems dishonest companies breed dishonest fans.

        Anonymous, 23 Jun 2017You better go for redmi note 4 sd625.You mean SD 805. The thing is, I skipped the Note 4, thinking the Note.5 would up from the Note 3. Well, after the Note.5 becoming sealed battery with NO memory expansion, I waited for the Note7 - we all know what happened to that.

        Having used the Note7 with a sealed battery for 45 days, it could just last me 12 hours, than the 16-17 hours I'm out of the house.

        Well, every manufacturer, and even mid-ranged phones with good cameras have sealed batteries. I do not want to be carrying around a power bank just to keep my power up. Even at least changing to a fresh battery to gain a full power is so much practical.

        Right now, I'm still using my Note 3 since I can put in a 10,000 mAh extended battery, and never have to plug in till I get home. But I just need a better camera on a phone.

              This OP5 camera, regardless of what some reviewers say, has really impressed me so far.

                Sealed battery. No where near enough for my usage for 6.5 to 7 hours of SOT for the day. I spend more time using a smartphone than desktop or laptops for entertainment, work, and communications. Now we want what Apple was doing - sealed battery that makes us carry chargers and powerbanks. Very ironic since most of you want thin phones, hence the small internal battery.

                    I was sceptic, but really needed a new phone fast and from where I come from, nothing comes even remotely close to this amount of bang for the buck, so I figured I'll try it despite disliking big phones. I'm completely sold even after I was sceptic and I wasn't expecting much from the camera based on what we knew beforehand.

Friends too have been wondering how the camera produces that good results.

                        The mobile is never a reason to decide about its productivity but its about the service they provide once you carry your phone out of the showroom.
                        1. They have insurance available in 3 different modes each giving you protection about the basics not covering the display insurance that is the most dedicate and pocket hole thing.
                        2. Having engineers in their desk doesn't help as most of the customer care don't no how to deal with the problem either they'll replace your phone or will format not giving any grounds of protection to your data is of utmost importance.
                        3. Giving 6/8 gb variant in 64/128 respectively is of great importance but you don't have a back head option of protecting your data. once mobile gets crashed no matter whatever maybe the reason is they'll stand their hand open asking you sir we'll format or you can take your phone back.
                        They customer care need to sort the issues rather creating a dispute to things. Format is not we come to ask you for, you are here to help customers not to create chaos. Hope Admin will make things work and maybe look forward to sort some action.

                          Yeah, let's ruin it by
                          Increase price
                          Smaller battery
                          Some how design looks like iPhone
                          No water resistant
                          No SD card supports
                          And don't forget the poor customer support.

                          Just remember when op 1 came everybody say big company like Samsung and lg will force to lower their price. It looks like oneplus forced to higher their price.

                            No waterproofing? No expansion? Ok I can live with that but worse still is it has bezels and is a small phone.

MKBHD however was not very enthusiastic in the review, but he had to say positive things about the phone as he was one of the special invitee guests for the launch. However one reviewer The Verge had blasted the phone.
