Honor 9 review: Light catcher

07 July 2017
It's Honor's turn now - the time to wave Leica's license fees goodbye and welcome the annual Huawei P flagship on a bargain price. The Honor 9 is shinier, arguably more powerful, and above all - way more affordable. And Honor 9 is not just a P10 for the masses, it's also a OnePlus 5 killer. The bar is high, the expectations - big, and this review has just started.

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2017Don't they give one anyways? BTW Honor 8 pro is better than thisI have three QuickCharge 2 chargers (at home and at my works) plus Aukey QuickCharge 3 powerbank. So OP can sell anything wonderful (10 minutes of charge less, wow!!!/sarcasm), but not to me

zodiacfml, 08 Jul 2017The G6 here is cheaper. No brainer. Not for me. I've had two LG phones with boot loop issues and even the G5 has been added to the class action lawsuit against LG. Only time will tell if the G6 will be added to this list also! Their attitude to ignoring the issue and hoping it will just go away rather than fixing it means I'll never go near the brand again.

The G6 here is cheaper. No brainer.

Probably the Galaxy Note 8 will get the sames Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 which use the same based technology of arm processing than Kirin960, Cortex A73 and even so the Kirin 960 still is a good chipset with a good cpu and gpu.

Was actually considering for a Huawei device under $300.
Here the P9 Plus is in a good deal, but it can't record 4K videos. Not huge deal breaker, but considering, the Zenfone 3 and the older LG G4 does for the same price.

I'm leaning for the Honor 8, but is just the same story as the P9 Plus.
Mate 9 is still quite expensive and battery doesn't seem to perform as promised by its capacity.

Now just looking away from Huawei and try a Samsung, looking forward to see if I can deal with lags, or if they even exist at all.
S7 Edge price seemed to be dropping bit by bit, and as soon as it reaches below $300 like the G5, I might get it.

When will this be available in India having said that honor 8 pro has just been launched here, few days ago?? any idea?? or will it not like the US??

HUAWEI u suck. U suck at improving performance and camera when there is no difference with previous flagships. Only add the RAM thats all the difference. RAM only helps in RAM management and multitasking. But the performance is relatively the same so why release a new flagship with the almost the same specs as the others when u can go back to china and sell them.

While this review tries hard to make Honor 9 sound like a better deal than it is, and look OnePlus 5 inferior, it actually isn't the case.
With Honor 8 one loses out considerably in GPU, screen, battery life, audio via headphone jack, slower ram, slower internal storage, slower/no updates, old looking UI, not as good camera.
It is a clear cut fight between Superior OP5 and inferior Honor 9

I am still disappointed with HUAWEI even though I never used them before because I used XPERIA XZ. The same HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset is common, the camera too except they removed the Leica branding, more RAM. And they say more powerful? I see almost no different between this and the HUAWEI P10!

looks like not a worthy upgrade from Honor 8 Pro, but that's just my opinion

The only thing I love in OnePlus is Oxygen OS.
                                    That's all.
I am all about customisation while keeping the UI Stock Android.
And good to see Huawei's Honor is now known as "OnePlus Killer" lol

I just wish if Samsung or Huawei or LG could create an UI that looks like Stock Android yet gives plenty of features.
