Sony Ericsson K850 vs. Nokia N95: 5 megapixel shootout

04 September 2007
This year several GSM cameraphones have already reached the 5 megapixel barrier. The Nokia N95 has been out long enough now that it's even got an update - an 8GB version with a larger screen and a larger battery so obviously it will stick around...

Before we start though, we should point out that it's really hard to tell which of the 5 megapixel shooters is the best. First off, our Sony Ericsson K850 test unit is actually a pre-release version (expect our detailed review really soon), so changes in the camera algorithm are likely to be made. - enough said quoted from the article.

Its amazing when a bunch of 1. brand huggers think they know something. If you read the article what it does say in absolulte favor of the 850 is that the image detail was a hell of alot better then the 95. Some of the n95 shots just looked like a blotched photo of ink. Obviously nokia people dont know much about digital photography. Most of the time you end up downsampling a photo. If you downsample the digital photos given on the website the 850 has the clearest, most detailed shots. If you want some low end software altered photo so you have no brains and just point and shoot and pay a fortune nokia is for you. If you want a true authentic detailed none software altering photo the 850 is a hell of alot better. I deal with real large SLR cameras. Obviously neither is at that level but if I had to choose the SE will give you a shot you can actually work with.

Sony Ericssons are rubbish. I've had enough of them. The only area where they shone was in the camera and the music department, and they've been overtaken by all the main brands in the music department, and now they've been overtaken by both Samsung and Nokia in the camera department. Sony Ericsson build quality is somewhat hit'n'miss(it has always been like this), their call quality is often crackly and lacking in volume, and their reception is not as good as Nokia or Motorola.
If Sony Ericsson don't come up with some new ideas, they're going down down down.

                  PSdH,
1st, K850i have faster gaming when the processor is much slower then nokia N95?? Look at the battery life which k850i has given, how could a fast processor last that long? And if bettter 3D and processor, sony would have given a more better graphic in menu & etc. And faster PC connetion? Nokia n95 support connection to pc just like the same as thumb drive. Which is faster eh?
Most of the ppl who use nokia, they didnt set thr equalizer and just play and compare, it isn't fair eh

Well, if you really go for the battle of the brands, there are a few things to consider.
Nokia is making a lot more money than SE. In 2006 the revenue generated by Nokia Corporation exceeded the budget of whole of Finnland. Potentially, i think Nokia is much better because of the sales shown by Nokia have outshone every other entity in the market. I think, the Nokia people primely concentrated on user-friendliness, quality of material, with no compromise on things like reception, long life of the device and things like that. Till 2006 they never paid any real attention to the demanding multimedia factor, that is why Nokia was never popular among the young. Even the brand appeared dull and seemed something that old people use. That was where SE came in. Appealing to the young, the brand also made roots. I clearly remember when SE K700i was released, SE was king of the hill. Softwares of every Nokia phone appeared the same with very less or no room for multimedia. I have always been a fan of SE, but now the times have changed. One can get a better multimedia experince from Nokia phones, be it photography, video, except for music, the SE Walkman is simpy unbeatable. Nokia phones have almost all the features combined in one device. For examaple you can get the best photography, music, work etc. out of the Nokia N-Series. Where as, in SE, if you want photography go for the K-Series, if you like music, go for the W-Series, and for work, please turn to P-series. As far as the K-850 and the N-95 are concerned, leaving the camera factor aside, in general, it would be true if somebody says that the Nokia device beats the SE with its hands down! Nokia has given a multimedia computer to you, on the other hand what has SE given? Just a camera!
P.S: Dear SE fans, no offense!

                                  N95 PLUSES (K850I Minuses)

                                  2) GPS (though N95 GPS is useless for me coz of poor battery and runs with no 3rd party software)
                                  3) 3.5 mm audio jack
                                  4) better display (K850i DISPLAYS SEEMS BETTER ALTHOGH)

                                  8) TV out
                                  9) Office document viewer (given app is not that good its just usual)
                                  10) very better JAVA performence

N95 has some sliding problems like 5300 and 6270 but still works fine.

i think SE has its own pluses and nokia has its own
but obviously K850i will be a bigger hit due to PRICE and STABLE OS

In asia N95 sales are just below expectation
IN paakistaan upto 31-08-07 (4058 units sold)

What is the point in the K series when its only got one trick n thats a gd camera. N95 has so much more to it than just a 5 mega pixel camera. To all those people who are sayin N95 is slow have u actually used 1? Its 1 of the fastest devices ive used and compared to the sony ericssons its wins hands down. Like i woz sayin the K850 has 1 trick whereas N95 has loadz. Sorry sony ericsson but the N95 is gona take sumat special 2 beat it
