Nokia 5 review: Numb3r5 don't lie

21 July 2017
Part of the original trio announced in the spring to mark Nokia return to making phones, the Nokia 5 occupies the middle ground between the basic 3 and the slightly fancier 6.

Good review. And funny. If 5 has better image quality than 6, could this be due to software updates? I'm quite sure Nokia will need some time (years) to make all the image sofware processing right (just remember the transition from Symbian to Windows Phone). Doesn't matter if they use ZEISS optics or anything else, although the adoption of these gives some hope that Nokia will invest the necessary resources.

Nokia, the ex-giant phone maker that fallen by ignored what their costumer want, betrayed by their former CEO. And now, they only make phones with low specs, just equal to J-series of Samsung's. Even, Chinese phone makers can make more phone with better specs in same price range nowadays.
Just not sure they will resurrected.
                Tragic!.

Anonymous, 28 Jul 2017"...their established naming scheme." ...which is anot... moreIt was confusing when Nokia was releasing ton of phones similar to how Samsung does these days. But they used the same scheme for the Lumia too which even though a little confusing worked well.
Now what they are doing is use the same scheme because the major problem they face is that "People are not connecting this Nokia with the Nokia that was connecting people".

AnonD-34062, 26 Jul 2017I don't think Nokia will label any of thier phones "4". App... more.. then use names or precede the numbers with letters.

                    E. g. The Nokia S-series for snapdragon equipped phones, the Nokia M-series for mediatek equipped phones etc.. djeez that's not difficult now, is it?

...which is another word for "as confusing as their Symbian naming schemes of years past".
And if these HMD bozo's do their after sales service through Dynafix or worse (solid vision) then they're back in the worst possible way. I think I'll pass. Pitty though as the build quality of that Nokia 6 looked promising.

But 7 months of waiting and still asking 250 euros is insane.
                        Its still not available here.

Anonymous, 26 Jul 2017"Nokia 5 review: Numb3r5 don't lie" Actually they do. ... moreI don't think Nokia will label any of thier phones "4". Apparently the number 4 resembles a Chinese character for some negative word. Plus, Qualcomm will name thier chips irrespective of other manufacturers' naming scheme. Plus, Nokia may not always use Snapdragon chips in every single one of thier phones. But I do get your logic. It's just not too practical between companies. Maybe if Nokia made thier own chips.

                                "Nokia 5 review: Numb3r5 don't lie"

                                Actually they do.

Nokia is using it's number scheme wrong again. Instead of using random numbers to more or less distinguish models/features they could have used it better.

                                By using

Nokia 2 : model with snapdragon 200-series soc
Nokia 4 : model with snapdragon 400-series soc
Nokia 6 : model with snapdragon 600-series soc
Nokia 8 : model with snapdragon 800-series soc

And use e.g. the Plus and Premium moniker to note bigger screen variants or enhanced featuresets.

So that the e.g. the Nokia 8 would be the snapdragon 835 flagship device with for instance a 5.2" display and the Nokia 8 plus the 5.7" variant.

                                Just my 2 cents.
