Sony Xperia XZ1 hands-on review: First impressions

There's a new top Sony dog in town and its name is the Xperia XZ1. So, it's official: Sony is persisting with its, let's say, questionable naming convention. To be fair, we do see the consistency in it all, but it is still a rather silly title. Plus, we do have to complain about some aspect of the XZ1, since, frankly, after spending a bit of time with it, our initial impressions are really positive.

Forget who makes Speakers for Sony, but definitely not Sony.

JDI is a joint venture of Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi, with Sony operating as an autonomous entity since being founded in spring of 2012. Regardless of Sony’s (lack of a) control over the firm, the fact remains that the Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer has a history of sourcing mobile display panels from JDI, especially those utilized in its flagships.

      dual camera also important because people often use it.
      bezeless design also important because it gives people better ergonomic and larger viewing area.

      3d scan is........... meh
      u.s.e.l.e.s.s..
      what will you do with it? you have to buy 3d printer to fully use it. it is just a gimmick. not important because people wont use it oftenly.

            Most papers here are reporting about new 3d modelling and printing mobile tech introduced at IFA by Sony.
            Interesting to see it got more news attention than rest of the boring same old mobile stuff like screens, dual cameras, bezeless designs etc... :-)

                Black or single-colored lines on LCD screens. Cracks, Spots, and Blotches. Backlight failure causing buzzing and random shut offs.

                Ghosting on a LCD screen is described as a trail following objects in motion on the screen giving a streaked effect. This is caused by a slow response time in the pixels themselves.

                Color banding, backlight bleed and the dreaded dead pixel are possibly the biggest problems with LCD screens.

                LCD is now old technology and still has plenty of faults. Its just cheap to make and destined for low end phones. Oled screens are the future with many more options for the future. Such as flexible screens, better and more colour options, more enhancements, better battery life, etc etc

                  Lots of burn in issues, red tint displays, no 4k, not as good color reproduction, etc...
                  All it has going for it is flexibility, but so much more shortcomings otherwise.

Every other part is outsourced to 3 party brands. European, American, China and Korean bands. Its a real mix up of brands.

                    Foxconn assembles Sony flagship phones in Thailand now.

                    I believe Sony phone designs are done in Scandinavia now.

And with JDI going near bankrupt right now they might join forces with SHarp and Foxconn. Which will definitely be great team up but they need to get on this fast before samsung releases 4k amoled.

                              Joled tech will make this display lol like a child's toy in performance and efficiency.

                              And for why we gave right now Samsungs current actually working in existence display fast surpasses it

                                      Everyone's here complaining about the bezels (which house one of the only front-facing stereo speaker systems on a smartphone from 2017...a lot more valuable than stupid screen-to-body ratios) whilst I'm here just praying that the Xperia X Ultra becomes a reality so that all the haters can just stfu.
