Huawei Mate 10, 10 Pro and 10 Porsche Design hands-on review

16 October 2017
Another fall, another phablet season. We've already seen what Samsung and Apple have to offer, but maybe Huawei has a trump card ready? We finally get a glimpse of the new devices in the Mate series.

What about the speaker? Is it still stereo hybrid (front facing and bottom facing) or single bottom facing?

Your head in the 360 camera hahaha.

There were rumours the amoled is supplied by boe. Maybe you can check. Also unlikely Samsung will sell 2k amoled to anyone, even apple did not get them.

Qhd ips lcd = inferior, less battery efficient display
Fhd amoled = inferior, battery efficient display

Dunno which is better to be honest. Lol huawei

Shots looks perfect, almost no noise but colors do not pop out so much, wonder why.

This includes the IP68 rating, thinness and battery size in spite of including a 3.5 mm jack.

It should be noted though that water and dust ingress is not covered by the typical warranty, and Samsung has had devices fail for that very thing. Having another port is to have another point of potential failure over time. The 3.5 mm port is nice to have, but not without its own drawbacks.

Mate 10 Pro No 3.5mm audio jack? No
              Mate 10 No Amoled? No
              Next

Good devices, but again - "no"
bot-pro version looks good in everything, but no IP67(8).
Pro-version has IP67 (why not 68?), but low screen resolution (1080+ can be ok for IPS, not for amoled with pentile matrix) and no 3.5 jack.
This is really strange, when basic version has better screen than Pro.
Display quality is unknown: previous Huawei devices lack good factory calibration.

The reason the Mate 10 only has IP53 unlike the IP67 Pro is probably because of that 3.5 mm AUX port, which is always a tricky thing to prevent dust and water ingress to.

But I cannot for the life of me understand why they only went with Bluetooth 4.2 instead of 5. The whole specification sheet screams of "Do we future-proof our phone or not?".

It's a shame another company went without 3,5 jack in its premium offering. Really dissapointed, although it was kinda expected...
