Razer Phone review

11 November 2017
It is always refreshing to see a new face, especially one as reputable as Razer, a major player on the thriving PC gaming scene. You don’t necessarily have to appreciate Razer's style and portfolio, but you’ll most likely agree that the "PC master race" is a tough audience to please. One way or another, Razer has managed to do just that, catering to the fickle gamer crowd’s whims and fancies.

Is clear that on the zoomed pictures, has also digital zoom... so you should not apply the full zoom since there is no indicator when the optical zoom ends. I wish they do something with the screen brightness, I like the phone and that dim screen is holding me from buying it. The pictures can be better using the Google modified APK of the camera app, at least that was mentioned by a reviewer on YouTube.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2017To be fair ps2 hasn't been properly emulated for mobile device..caught me there, true xd
still a smartphone has the power to deliver ps2 gen games in hd and 60fps, if someone's ever port a ps2 game to high end smartphones.

I am feeling like i have wasted my time in reading this review. Review is very good but the device under review doesn't seem worthy of the time.

For those who are complaining about brightness, can't you just use your Razer Phone inside your house and stay there?

I have an iPhone 5S to deal with the outside world and a Nokia 8 to stay indoor just to play some Super Toss the Turtle for example.

Gaming stuffs are meant to be indoors anyway.

So, low brightness, worst battery life, it's pretty bad for gaming when compared to other flagships. I must admit i only was attracted for its dual front speakers

X, 13 Nov 2017mobile gaming is such a joke, what game can you play on a s... moreLet's see.. All Play Station with epsxe, All nintendo ds games, all gameboy, gameboy colour and gameboy advance games with emulators. psp games, ps2 games and many more.

I have an Xperia Z5, playing games like tomb raider 2, crash bandicoot 3 and xena. Some pokemon soulsilver, maybe then some super mario bros?

You were saying snake? Seriously, do you people know what a nowadays flagship smartphone can do? Or you just get the new iphone and think you are great? Doing the exact things you were doing with your previous phone? So why did you get the latest phone if it's capabilities are going to waste with you?

Im tired of smartphone enthousiasts having flagship smartphones just for having a flagship. Just fail..

It's flagship priced, so it better has flagship outputs in every category. Failing at the camera department is a NO, not to mention the lack of headphone jack.
As much as I enjoy gaming on phones, 300 nits of brightness is bellow average making gaming under strong light conditions impossible.
The whole 120hz screen is there yes, but without any benefit out of it in movies and the lack of games supporting this makes it a meh. Maybe later we will see more games, maybe.

As of now my Xperia Z5 seems to kill razer in gaming thanks to it's 700 nits of brightness, making it much more useful under strong light conditions even with playstation games (many are dark mind you, so good luck seeing them on razer during the day).

My opinion is, good option. But if you focus on mobile gaming then you better have a brightness of at least 600 nits. It's a gaming phone for fs sake and most people are awake during the day, not at night. Also have at least 2 full games that support your headline of 120hz, so you can show off something against the competition.
Yeah great thing about the speakers, but I just can't get my head away from the fact of 300 nits of brightness, it's just bad for a gaming phone.

Thats what happens when a not well established phone manufacturer enters the market first then hands down slap $800+ price on a poorly built phone with only ram and screen gimmick, then say its a gaming phone, lel.

Even removing essential components like 3.5mm jack and not getting the latest stuff like BT5.0/Gorilla Glass 5, no ip68, no OIS/EIS, standard SD835 like every other flagship phones outthere that you can get for $600 or even less rather than slapping in a custom SoC like Nvidia/AMD then i'd call it a gaming device.

Guys, did/could you try playing 4K 60fps videos on this? Just curious if display plays any role in smooth playback!

It looked very good on paper, but after reading this review I`m not sure what that thing is.
New player on the market, promising specs, different design to all those clone phones of today(though Sony fans are surely welcoming its looks),uberhype about that display...all good. But,as it turned out, this is just a concept phone that might make sense in a year or two.
Display that actually performs like a budget display on a $200 phone and you cannot use all its capabilities today, bad battery life, lousy software, sub $200 phone camera...and for 750euro in Europe I doubt that even hardcore Razerzone customers would unload that money for it..For even half that you can get SD835,and everything else way better than this..

The only phone that has a reason to justify the ommission of 3.5mm port & wireless charging.

Nice hardware but the software is poor. The battery life is hard to believe including the display which has low brightness!
