HTC U11+ review

27 November 2017
HTC U11+ could have been the next big Pixel, but it just wasn't meant to be. Instead, it became the next squeezable HTC flagship fully equipped to compete with Google's XL sequel. Underdog or not, the HTC U11+ has the dog tags of a fighter.

It's absolutely right@battery life being excellent! I bought u11+ and arrived on 22nd Dec. When I had my first full charge - I had 6% left and 9h 46m was usage time without power save on. Active push emails, playing games and was also setting up and installing apps etc.

The battery results are wrong, I have the phone and I can tell you this. I can use the phone for 2 full days with almost 8hrs screen time on a single charge. My 3T has less "endurance" than this phone according to this review and I had to charge it every night before going to sleep with the same usage pattern.

There must be something very wrong with the unit that you tested because that battery endurance test doesn't make sense at all, there's no way that HTC would put a huge battery to get those poor results, did you test other units?

Get it in your hands and report back.

Compared to the normal s7 or s8 this phone is a beast. In the past week that I've had it. .it has yet to die on me and i only charge it before i go to bed. I consider myself a moderate to power user and have the brightness at 50% and auto.

Nice to hear, I was wondering how much the battery is better compared to the s7. I Had the s7 and I only could get like 3.5 hours of sot. Now I have the s8 and get like 4.5 hours of sot max, which is way too low for me.

Also, is the phone not too big for one hand usage, is the handling not too difficult?

                        Thanks in regards

I own the phone. .gsm arena is my go to website and i am very disappointed with this review. I am glad i bought this phone before the review was up and influenced by it. the battery life and screen are amazing and this is coming from a galaxy s7 edge owner. Buy with confidence. This is the phone of the year and it deserves to do well!

Just in case your post gets deleted, let people search it by themselves.

Anyway, 9 hours screen on time is around 30% improvement over U11's screen on time, which on average manage around 6 to 8 hours reported by users in U11's comment pages.

GSMARENA is a site I have been following for many years and usually their reviews are on point, maybe unfortunate to receive a defective unit.

Just as most reviews on YouTube, https://youtu.be/rMD-EYH3R5M this is another link that shows real battery usage time, the review is quite long but just forward to a few minutes and you will see the relevant content and most reviews state 9+ SOT.

There will be an update that will introduce the HDR10 support, that means they have to increase the screen brightness (if it really has 300 nits now).
From the official HTC U11+ page it`s written "Support of the HDR10 feature will be available December 2017".
I contacted HTC UK and they confirmed that what GSM Arena has, is not the final product that we will receive here in Europe (we should receive the phone already updated). Therefore they were quite disappointed by this review.

Does this phone have some kind of smart stay display feature like Galaxy S since the model 3? Does it support USB-C to HDMI output, if yes, is it in 4k like Galaxy S8 does? I have returned my S8+ (dual sim) because of pink display when tilting an Im thinking of buying this dual som phone (EU version). Im a pure Samsung Galaxy S / Note guy since their model 1 and Im quite afraid to buy something else :S Is it a good idea? Thx.
