HTC U11+ review

27 November 2017
HTC U11+ could have been the next big Pixel, but it just wasn't meant to be. Instead, it became the next squeezable HTC flagship fully equipped to compete with Google's XL sequel. Underdog or not, the HTC U11+ has the dog tags of a fighter.

Amazing phone this U11+. I am curious about the translucent black color variant and how it looks in real.

How can the battery life be that bad?
Can anybody with a htc u11+ confirm those battery findings?

I thought this is going to be a beast battery wise... What a shame if this turns out to be true.

[deleted post]100% agree with you...I watched your review last week before reading the GSMArena one and have watched 2 other reviews of the U11+ who also say the battery life is top notch. In fact one reviewer had to delay his review cause he had trouble draining the battery.

Has the poor battery life been mentioned yet? :-D Other than that, actually seems like HTC managed to make a pretty decent phone.

I think instead of just giving a score, GSMA should also give us the battery life in day to day cases. I do not trust the battery test tbh, especially considering that my phone (Huawei P10 Plus) got a 70-ish rating and it last me all day no matter how I use it (I'm a heavy user btw). If you want to know my usage, I wake up at 6am and unplug the phone, then I use it for texting, calling, watching Youtube, browsing the internet, Twitter and Instagram all day. Also I play games for at least an hour and a half. The phone comfortably hits 6 hours of SOT without any problem.

So I think that the U11+ will last all day long. Especially with a 10nm processor (kirin 960 in 16nm) and a light version of Android (EMUI is heavy) and 4000mah. Not to mention Oreo's battery optimization.

Battery life is truly shocking on first release: a near 4000 mAh battery, efficient 835 CPU and to top it off, really low screen brightness. Should be easily topping 90 hours in the tests, probably over 100. The tested numbers are awful. And then there is the screen brightness - absolutely appalling and makes the phone marginal in the summer sun - not acceptable for a top of the range phone. That said, the speakers seem to be world beaters. So if that matters to you, then go for it, but I would wait until they really put more effort into optimising the software and cranking up the brightness.

very poor optimized battery! Put this battery in note8/s8+ then you will see 20+ hrs video endurance.

We all thought that the Huawei Mate 8 Pro's battery life was very poor for its size, but the HTC U11+ is pathetic. I'd expect that from a mere 2000mAh...
