HTC U11+ review

27 November 2017
HTC U11+ could have been the next big Pixel, but it just wasn't meant to be. Instead, it became the next squeezable HTC flagship fully equipped to compete with Google's XL sequel. Underdog or not, the HTC U11+ has the dog tags of a fighter.

Anonymous, 28 Nov 2017just another crap phone from HTC, I have both u11 and u11+,... moreMost careless and indifferent comments ever.
A good phone is touch and feel, usability and comfort.
I suggest you to choose a Sammy phone and leave serious phones to HTC users

Most people dont understand that barely having a full day of battery life with a brand new phone is not enough.
Give it a few months and it surely wont last through a whole day anymore!

As far as the battery is concerned I am 100 percent sure it will improve over the time with update. May be some optimization issues led to such low performance. But regarding screen they should have just compared it with iPhone 8 plus screen. That would have given more realistic and practical comparison for us to judge. Simply making a statement of being good or bad screen depends on reviewers bias and experience. It looks like a great and we'll balanced phone if it has screen as good as iPhones.

I think one should really check the phone in person for display and see if it's a deal breaker or not. Battery life though still looks good to last a full day. For now, this and LG V30 look like the best your money can buy with Sony a close second with their software support so far. Pixel and it's issue will make you think hard about the money spent, Huawei is yet to show how responsive it is in software update and Samsung, though feature rich, needs a faster and better experience for the software. I have used an S8 and now on S7 but the lags whenever came, made my phone unresponsive for that moment and trust me, it doesn't feel nice if frequent.

just another crap phone from HTC, I have both u11 and u11+, the screen brightness of u11+ is lower than u11 which is already much lower than other competition. also, auto focus and gps of 11+ is slower than u11, slightly better battery life than u11 which is unacceptable given its much larger battery size. screen color is not accurate which I excepted as super lcd5 is just a cheap display sourced from sub-par supplier...and the top and bottom bezel are still too big...

And according to GSMarena most phones last even more. So yes, tests are not realistic, but because the results are actually better than what you get in real life. And they are testing in WiFi. that''s soo 20th century. It's #g/4G usage that matters. GPS and games too. And video, at least tests here should be realistic.

                    [deleted post]Hi Nick,
Does the poor battery life has something to do with always on display? As AOD can be less efficient on LCD.

And the screen being dimmer? Is it really challenging to use outdoors ? Like when u need to snap a photo or take videos or reading messages on a sunny day? Or still acceptable ?

This is the only review I've read or watched that had the U11+ have poor battery life. There was one who even said he had a problem draining the battery.

And this is why everything isn't based on specs or numbers. Large battery we would praise, we can laugh at the real life endurance

So HTC did it again, great overall phone but there are better ones for the money. HTC U Ultra situation without the amazing blue back.

Do the battery life test again. there might be some discrepancies. reset it and do the test again.with 835 and 3930mah battery it should atleast last over 80hrs.

now this is a beautiful phone. Battery is no problem for me, I'm not a heavy user. Only drawback is 3.5mm jack absent. It will be mine

[deleted post]This feels like some Moto G5 and G5S reviews elsewhere that claim the phone lasts for 4 to 5h SoT.

If playing games you can kill that phone in 5h SoT, with normal use you can easly get 7 to 8h SoT.

Same with a lot of other phones, SoT in reviews is a lot of times false.

                                (I use auto brightness)

I am in a dilemma between HTC U11+ and LG V30+. Is there any comparison review of these two devices?

What's your opinion on the low brightness that this review talks about?

Wow, are you guys sure this wasn't a Razer phone hidden in the body of a U11+? Seriously though, the similarities are uncanny - nice but dim screens, good audio, big batteries with surprisingly bad test scores, and they were even announced almost at the same time. Too bad both of them looked 'phone of the year'-worthy on paper, but didn't quite measure up in real life; I really thought one of them would be the rare device that manages to check all the boxes.
