Motorola Moto X4 review

29 November 2017
Once Motorola's flagship phone, the X went through an episode of multiple personality disorder in 2015 (remember the Style, Play and Force?) only to be replaced at the top by the Moto Z last year. Feeling at home in the midrange, the X-series is now in its fourth generation. Meet the Moto X4.

still no OIS. Better to have optical stabilizer and a better battery at the expense of some thickness. All this thinness is useless IMO

Good luck with updates on the Xiaomi phone. Don't let the "pure Android" thing fool you. The Mi Box is also "pure Android" and never got past Marshmallow ever since it came out. The software is made by chinese, unlike Moto, designed in Brasil, software in the US, manufactured in China.

AnonD-368020, 29 Nov 2017In short an Ok Ok phone in a shiny packet. I was a big fan ... moreReally? Xiaomi, ZTE, Huawei Honor - all of them are cheaper and better that fake "flagship killer". Moto and others definitely better that overpriced chinaphone.

Overall, the Mi A1 seems a better choice, that if you dont mind about the waterproofing on a phone.

Price wise, the Moto X doesnt seem to be worth it

Honor 8 or 9 are a better alternative.

Anybody irked when looking at the camera? Looks like a face to me :/

ISO is kinda high for SS slower than 1/20.

It's not a bad phone, but I was hoping for something more like the original moto x. It's a smaller phone with some unique features, but it's not an upper mid ranger that can compete with flagships due to optimisation like the original. SD 660 would have helped that.
It hasn't got the ergonomics of the older ones, which has now been condemned to history. If it had the design of the 2014 x with a higher screen to body ratio and a fingerprint scanner in the moto dimple that would be a great design. I had the original moto x and it's the most ergonomic smartphone I've ever held.
                      Bring back that shape moto/lenovo!

GSMA, can you please list the camera sensors in your reviews? It's useful to know if the sensors are Sony, Samsung or Omnivision, etc, and which model. Surely that info can be obtained by running an app.

In short an Ok Ok phone in a shiny packet. I was a big fan of Moto X series. I owned Moto X1,X2 and X3 and then switched to one plus. Only Nexus and Moto X series were capable of giving tough competition to One plus but sadly both series are dead and there is no solid alternative to One plus.
