Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) hands-on review

19 December 2017
Wait what?! So the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8+ (2018) are here to replace the Galaxy A5 (2017) and A7 (2015)? That sure makes perfect sense. Although, from a more serious perspective, what better way to show continuity with the acting flagship Galaxy S8 line? And since one is small, the other is larger, the latter gets a 'plus', right? Things are starting to sound a bit better already.

AnonD-392500, 19 Dec 2017Mediocre battery? Seriously? At least it is better than 270... moreYes. But XZ1 has smaller screen and 10nm cpu.
In real life XZ1 lasts as long as Z2

Hmm. The side bezels are chunkier than usual, like the iPhone X. I guess they are reserving the all-out stunning Infinity displays for the flagships.

Exynos 7885 and it's A73 cores do look interesting (Thanks goodness they didn't stick with last year's processors). I think they should used the SD 660. Maybe that is reserved for the A9+ (2018)?

Dedicated SD card slots, IP68, 3.5 mm jack, Dual front camera's, f1.7 on main camera all sound good.

I feel they should have launched it around May, with Oreo on board. That way the S series would retain the flag-bearer novelty, without the A series usurping it.....

Why Sammy don't set a OIS in a so beautiful model? For me this killed the A8

Low battery, huge screen with power hungry cpu.. old nougat with huge price. Very bad combination. Better get s8 with promotion and discount price. It won't cost more.

And still Samsung can't make a proper upper midrange chipset. SD660 is way more powerful than Exynos 7885. Even SD630 is not far behind.

Ridiculous 18:6 crippled aspect ratio, huge price, mediocre battery and old Android version. Well thanks, but no thanks.

But for me no upgrade, I'll keep my A5 2017.
