Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus review

23 January 2018
So, no more Redmi Notes eh? The Redmi 5 Plus should clearly have been the Note 5, a successor of the Redmi Note 4, but Xiaomi wanted a fresh start. The fifth generation is trying to shake things up and the new look obviously called for a new name. So, Xiaomi retired the Note brand promoting the Plus from a mere qualifier to a proper name. The phablet lives on regardless, and goes all-in with a wide 6" screen.

Still no ac wifi....
WHY?
Is it more expensive to enable AC wifi?
To be honest ,this is the only reason for me not to buy it...
Weird decision.

SD625 in this and No Redmi Note? Xiaomi just shot itself in the foot.

The phone captures 2160p videos as mentioned in the introduction, in all video descriptions, video compare tool, and the review's text, of course. The only place it was missing was in our database and it's fixed now.

I am very confused. Is this device capable of shooting 4k video or not? In the specs and in the introduction it says 1080p, in the videos sub section of the camera section it says it can shoot 2160p but the youtube video sample thumbnail right under it says 1080p, however if u play it u can select the 2160p quality. So please either update the specs and the intro or say its limited to 1080p.

                Seriously Xiaomi?
Is this your idea for the successor of Redmi Note 4?
You have certainly convinced me to buy....Redmi Note 4....!!!

Something went terribly wrong with this device (or just the unit tested) in Audio performance section. Most devices perform well with amplifier than with headphone.. But this amplifier readings are way worse than acceptable..

P.S: This is has been the farthest worst score i seen, since watching these graphs in GSMAreana for so long.

it will face competition from moto g6 . as xiaomi has removed note series i had expected to see dual rear cameras and sd630 or higher.
for me the most important thing in a phone is soc first ,screen, cameras.
i would rather go for another device . i am disappointed with xiaomi .

Great phone, but... WHY no Quickcharge???? How can Xiaomi release a phone with 5V/2A charger only? I hate to carry additional battery pack.

Redmi Note 4 Global has LTE B20 frequency, which is lacking on Redmi 5 Plus.
