Nokia 8 Sirocco, 7 Plus, and 8110 4G hands-on review

25 February 2018
Nokia is starting its second year as a new-look Android maker but it already has a big portfolio to build on and a solid market position to build from. More importantly it has a great relationship with Google which has enabled Nokia to supply its phones with fast, clean as well as up to date and secure software.

No new models with fingerprint scanner on the front? Nokia, really? Poll results tell us that at least half of users prefer it there. I understand that combining front scanner with 18:9 screen is a technological challenge, but it's not impossible (see e.g. view 10).

I don't believe the Nokia 8 height is 140.93mm. If that is true, it's the perfect size!!!

The Nokia 6 (2018) seems quite a bit more expensive than I was expecting. I thought this was going to be 200-220 euros (closer to China price), but then its gone to 279 euros which is quite expensive and puts it in the range of other manufacturers.

Also wished that they could have offered the Nokia 7 (2017) that China has to the global market.

Having a metal unibody construction it's not possible to have Wifi or Qi charging. You need a plastic or a glass back to do it. Nokia Lumias could do it via their polycarbonate backs. I was used to like pretty much the polycarbonate constructions but now the trend is aluminium, glass and stainless steel; thanks Apple... 😏

AnonD-727870, 25 Feb 20181. Pricing for all models Nokia 6 and above is a total disa... moreLight emission form the screen adds to eye strain so there is no difference between OLED and LCD except the fact that OLED can have pure black but considering most of the apps still run white backgrounds there are more of a chance that you will get more eyestrain of OLEDs as they have higher top end brightness and many of them require high brightness level to wake up and work up to potential.

                            So there is that.

hoping to see xenon flash in near future, nothing can replace xenon in dark indoor conditions. There is a bump anyways, so why not put xenon.

mid range priced 7+ got flagship specced camera and 3mics. Way better than last year 8, at least on hw side. Considering some flagships got just one mic, its great phone.
