asus zenfone 5z would be a hit if they did it smaller. i've an htc u11 5.5" with the same size of this phone, and i miss my preview size phone 5.2" htc 10. it was a much easier to use 1 hand phone. a phone with that size (htc 10) without almost no bezels (and if possible without the horrible notch) i would buy it in the second it appears. till that day come..if it will....i will stay with my fantastic device...just wish it was smaller.....

Android Consultor, 28 Feb 2018Iphone fans keep complain about Asus and other brands being... moreinfinite display is a copy from xiaomi mi mix. it was a concept phone that everyone liked and samsung understood that and just copy it...with compromise solution because mi mix had serious problems with speakers because of near 0 bezel on top, thats why they got the top and bot bezels. mi mix 2 evolved with better aproach, and solution to a real use phone. btw xiaomi mi mix it self was inspired by sharp ugly 3 side bezeless phone. so the first 3 side bezeless phone was sharp...xiaomi picked that idea and made it beautiful, samsung understood it was the future, it invested in it. lg also...others just went in the game later. first phone with notch was essential phone, in lack of a better solution to put the front camera. xiaomi mi mix 2 for me is the best solution for the front camera, mi mix 2s is a step back from mi mix 2 in my point..a corner notch is not the way to go...or any notch at all...the vivo apex looks good and the best implementation so far for a phone without bezels and still be usefull and with good sound.

With the ZenFone 5z, I wish the flagship prices next year would go back to $400 to $700 tops again. It'll be like the Nexus era.

Do they do monthly updates?
If yes and camera reviews prove to be good, I might consider getting Zenfone 5.
I don't care how it looks as long as it has great screen to body ratio.

Iphone fans keep complain about Asus and other brands being copy Iphone. But, they forget that Iphone X is a copy from Essential Phone and Samsung. Samsung first implemented the infinit screen on the side, and essential on the top. Iphone just join this two designs. Also, paying more than 1000$ for a phone that does not have the best camera on the market, the battery isn't so good, the design is not so innovate, the Ram management is bad when switching apps. Not to mention that Android have more compatibility. So, you're paying just the brand ...

Gsmarena you forgot add OIS to the specifications of the Zenfone 5/5Z add it. It's another good reason to consider buy these phones plus the stereo speakers, the display and all the aditional features, audio jack, FM radio, usb type-C, AI , etc.
With the competitive price of the Zenfone 5Z they clearly have changed their prices policy, this time they seems want to really compete and win part of the market sales, so wait till they publish the prices instead of speculate. The signal is there.

For me the most important are the specifications and price because with project Treble plus the unlock bootloader available you can install all the firmwares that you want without any bloatware. Even ported firmwares from other brand. Choose what you prefer, the drivers will be now available in a separate partition! And I personally will port the Android stock firmware or other if i finally I decide to add one of these phone too my collection. And sure that other developers will do with custom/personalized roms.

Their ZF3 and ZF4 are both rubbish, full of bugs and bloatware that were not fixed for months. Unlikely these will be any better.
