04 March 2018
MWC 2018 is now over and it brought some new devices and also some.. improved devices. In the case of LG we got the latter type of phone - the LG V30S ThinQ and not the LG G7. So to recap, what has the V30s Thinq improved in the LG V30 - well it comes in two new colors - New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Grey (yes, New is part of the name) - a 2GB bump in RAM...

Got the thinQ update on my V30
    See no improvement at all?

Cameras don't beat the S7 Edge and Note 7/FE's camera.
S7 Edge. RethinQ what a phone can do.
Note 7/FE. The smartphone that thinQs big.

Spent all this time to develope that AI, but couldnt do a simple software tweak to the mixer_paths.xml file to enable both speakers for media playback.
Just an AI based camera app is not enough to justify a whole new edition, imo.

Photos from the new camera Lok a LOT worst.

I actually prefer the photos on the V30 overall. Some on the V30S have slight fuzz going on.

The screen isn't going to be an issue, and you get a phone that is still fast after two years, has a great camera, fingerprint sensor on the front and a lovely display.

New camera software looks worse to me.
I'm not a fan of brightened pictures.
Also the reviewer said underexposed, I thought it was called overexposed

It does have a more reliable exposure meter, that's a big plus. I would go for the new one.
Still 2.2 with the selfie isn't that good. From a flagship I would expect less than f1.9.

                          Anonymous, 04 Mar 2018Al it’s mobile chipset not a camera software.Lol
It's entirely software and it's coming to the V30 in an OTA update

I have s6 almost 3 years, and first rom i flashed was last year when i lost warranty and Samsung stoped supporting s6 with android updates. With custom rom i get all software features that s8 have. If i didn't done that i would need to pay for new phone that costs 750$ to get some fancy gimmicks. Do i need to upgrade to new phone every year or spend one day to get software that already needed to be on s6?

Dear GSM Arena Team: USE A TRIPOD!

Seeing pictures of your reviewer fumbling with two phones in his hands and claiming to make a camera comparison is not confidence inspiring. Go buy some cheap dash board mounts and at least rig a monopod and make sure you use some kind of remote shutter trigger to fire the cameras at the same time.

LG superfan, 04 Mar 2018Why did you flash a custom rom on a phone not even year old... moreSome people think that the stock ROM always sucks, no matter what. Sometimes they are right, sometimes not. End of the day, their phone, their choice.

I seriously fail to see a difference. If you want just use a photo editing app afterwards and you got yourself an RI doing the job, real intelligence, yourself.
This is nothing else than an add on, the camera was already great as it was.
