Low-light stills and 4K with tripod or with blurr, high mp with more noisy details than 2013 phone. Not even tele lens(in some + ver.), truer color QHD+ screen with deep blacks, worthy selfie,...its really bad. Poor those who buy it. They even cannot zoom in closely enough to see that because of zoom limit in phone. Wish gsma tested also audio recording capabilities, as if that does not matter.

Pretty close to what I expected with toned down processing on the xperia. Bokeh is an unexpected jump.
Xz2 pro or whatever is expected to have OIS, if they improve their hdr algorithm they can try for the top spot.

A few people said overall Sony wins... I’m I reading the same article as them? Or fanboys always chose their brand?
Here are the results from reading the article.
-Daylight pics is a draw,
-Night shots the galaxy wins in terms of brightness, noise reduction, speed to take the pic and hand held shots. Sony can win with a tripod, but seriously how many people bring a tripod with them?
-Portraits (bokeh) Sony wins
-selfie Samsung wins
-Super slow mo, Samsung wins
-4K video and HDR vids (Sony), 1080p video (Samsung)
-stabilization Samsung

Judging by the samples here, it looks like the S9 is slightly ahead. Which means the S9+, aka "the one with the good battery life", is likely to be ahead of the Sony.
However, we can't (or shouldn't) really judge until we actually get our own hands on them.
So its a little puzzling to read some of the comments here.
There's only one (very important) conclusion to draw from this comparison: Sony has finally started to fix their camera drivers!

Turn on HDR, ISO, shutter speed, WB and manual focus.
HDR goes auto on sony even for front camera, which never works properly on galaxy. Alwaus overexposed background.
Sony has AR, many filters. You can even use both cameras same time since Z1.
Xperia wont stopping recording 4K after 5 minutes. LOL.
5 minutes , what a joke... Should allow 3h of 4K.
Quality is lower and also time limited.

They are the ones that made it cool again, while others were saying plastic is better and one more thing to break etc. 2016 was a bad year for materials. In the days of SE, everyone used plastic. My SE phone is still going strong which is 12 years old.

Lol, Sony's manual mode is a joke, the S9 can beat easily the XZ2 with pro mode, and the HDR mode on the XZ2 is shameful.
Kudos to Samsung's multi frame noise reduction.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2018What have Sony got against OIS?It's more expensive to make, and more complicated, it means more mechanical parts, and Sony has always been using cheap squeaky materials for their products - from the Sony Ericsson days until lately when they finally switched to metal and glass (but who knows what's inside). And Sony users don't care, some even want to disable it for some mythical reason, some even want to carry tripods. :-D

The S9 is clearly the winner. Of course some blind Sony fans will deny it even with the evidence in front of their eyes. Nothing new. The S9 has better stabilization, less noise, better in low light, better camera software, and more or less tied in the rest.
