Moto G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play hands-on review

19 April 2018
Motorola hasn't exactly enjoyed a smooth ride on the smartphone scene, over the past few years. Still, amid all the profit turmoil, ownership changes and shifting branding strategies, the legendary Moto G family of devices managed to survive. In fact, it did one better, managing to remain pretty consistent in its high-value features and affordable pricing strategy.

I see their design bad optimized. With those bezels the size must be really big. The price too high about what you get. Perhaps in some country is the only option available but it's rare not have a Nokia available in the same country or better get a Nubia Z18 mini which is amazing for the price and forget all this mediocre ones. There are better interesting options than these phones. I still can't understand why they maintain the circle for the cameras, i've always seen it ugly, but perhaps is me.

If they get back to their old fast update schedule they will be the king of midrange smartphones. Nobody has comparable hardware with an almost clean android.
There is a Xiamoi Mi A1/2 but that's it.
The Nokia 6.1 may be comparable with the g6plus, but the 16:9 Display, the Design, the cam and the smaller battery are below average.
And if you need an affordable but good smartphone with a nice possibility to root, there is just Motorola.

Byebyemoto, 19 Apr 2018Motorola will be dead over 1 or 2 years. Telephone is not ... moreMotorola will exceed over the years, nokia and Huawei phones look like crap and are a piece of crap. Motorola went out of the norm and did something that other phone companies have failed to do or just didn't try, they created modular phones. and the g series and e series are amazing budget phones and they have been for a while, so they wont just go away just like that.

I really don't understand the point of these new phones. Sluggish, power-hungry 28nm Snapdragon 425 coupled with 5000 mAh battery on the E-series ? And when they are using the efficient Snalpdragon 630 on the G-series, they stop at 3200 mAh ? Just utterly stupid.

The Nubia Z18 mini shines above all these phones with an exceptional quality and specifications for the price. Sadly is just sold out.

"The Snapdragon 450, inside the regular Moto G5 might not offer many performance gains, but it is a lot more power efficient."
It does offer considerable performance gains and is almost as good as SD625.

here in Europe motorola is dead as a mobile phone brand. Horrible phones

And good thing LG will start their moniker of "ThinQ" as part of their smartphones' names.
I can easily mistake the G6 as from LG if nobody said "Moto" before it.

apertotes, 19 Apr 2018I have a fantastic Moto G of the third generation. 4.5" of ... moreBut the G3 has a 5" display.

everything changed after lenovo completes motorola takeover

I have a fantastic Moto G of the third generation. 4.5" of screen. Won't buy any of these new monstrosities.

AnonD-632062, 19 Apr 2018There used to be a time when Motorola phones were exciting,... moreThey used to release three phones back then, entry level , mid range , flagship. Now there are three phones in a single series.
The pricing hasn't changed, the regular g series (G4 ,G5) has similar pricing as G,G2,G3 with sd400 series cpu(and respective gpu) inside them. Can't really compare them to plus variants.

Why not include moto mods for the G series ?Hello Moto?????? Anyone there???

The G6 plus is an updated X4....not particulary exciting the others.....
Kudos for the design. however i motorola still have credits of their own, on who to create a solid and reliable product , with clean android UX.

There used to be a time when Motorola phones were exciting, affordable and peppy. They had a finger on the pulse of the crowd. I may be wrong, but today's Moto just doesn't elicit the same fervour.
