Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S review

Halfway into the Mi Mix 2’s product cycle, Xiaomi releases the Mi Mix 2S, an incremental update to the Mix 2, or a successor and a half to the original Mi Mix. The Mix was the first smartphone to push Android’s limits by incorporating a display that was taller than 16:9, thus calling for Android to change its design rules and introducing OEMs with a new hardware dimension to play around with.

        You guys have to think how to make photo and video comparison chart for American reviews. Anyway, I think the camera is ok, but isn't that great (as DXOmark failed claim again) and audio recording is plain terrible.

              Had mine for a couple weeks now and the battery is definitely out performing the P10 Plus it replaced so not sure what happened in this test. Impatiently waiting for a global ROM though

                The real batrery life is the one you get in real life with screen on time or SOT(NOT the same as USAGE time on Iphones wich includes updating apps or checking mails/messages in the background when screen off)!!!

                My screen on time SOT is minimum 6h with my MI Mix 2!!! With my MI 5 the SOT was about 5H, but GSM Arena gives it a much higher endurance!!! So this is absolutely NOT comparable!!! The software will advance and you will get better battery life when idle in the near future!!!

Actually those are some best looking stills i have seen lately from flagships. Laid back post processing and as much detail as 12 mpx tiny sensor can do. Compared to oversharpened/oversaturated stills from other recent flagships they look good.

                    1000 less mah than the original
                    More bezel (lower BtS ratio)
                    Nonsensical aspect ratio (the orginal's was 16:9 with the soft buttons on)
                    No futuristic (albeit buggy) tech (speaker has made a return).

                    Not exactly a successor then. More like an alternative line of Xiaomi phones that is using the same name as the masterpiece (Mix 1's).

                    Mi Mix was one and was never repeated. Mi Mix 2? more like a generic samsung look alike. Paaass...

                    Btw don't care about the goodies (soc/camera), all modern flagships have them. Care for losing pretty much everything that made the series unique.

                      One thing that makes me wonder. How comes that in multicore test Exynos is on par or lags behind a bit, compared to Snapdragon if it's Moonsoon single core test mops floor with Kryo.
                      Something is fishy here. Not sure if it really does have those A55 cores. :) OR are Kryo 385 Silver cores at least twice as powerful as A55.

                              Battery is no surprize.

                              Xiaomi phone with 4500mAh will last same of a Galaxy, Moto or Xperia with 3600mAh.

                              A8+ and XA2 Ultra with 14nm cpu and bigger screen on Ultra last much more.

                                Most ppl will use 1st camera, but the OEMs keep putting optical zoom inside the 2nd.

                                2nd usually has simpler hardware ( smaller sensor and narrower f ), results are different.

                                So optical zoom should be inside the main.

                                  And from your screenshot it is clearely visible that shutter speed goes much slower!?

                                    They really need to fix the microphone quality.
                                    My Redmi 5 Plus microphone quality sounds strange, like an alien about to come. Shame, because otherwise this phone's camera is fantastic for its price.

                                    Also, they need to roll out Oreo ASAP. The Huawei Honor 7x, this phone's main competitor, already has received it in the US models and even comes with Project Treble.

                                        Same here.
                                        Having to charge your phone twice a day is one of the most annoying things.
