Motorola Moto G6 Plus review

12 May 2018
A flagship of sorts, within its own family at least, the Moto G6 Plus is the best equipped among the G6 brethren with a specsheet that covers all the bases and a price tag that won't break the bank. Another in a line of successful Moto Gs then? We'll get to that.

For this price tag, I expected a lot more areas where the competition is getting stronger.

not Android One. Batery life could be MUCH better sing this chipset, not compatible AGAIN with Moto mods (i think it would make ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world).

I really like Moto branding, tough phones build to last, but it´s not alone anymore and it´s getting difficult to recomend when now you have Xiaomis, or Nokia phones which offer the same for less.

If Moto want´s to stand out they need to work harder.

So is the Moto G6 Plus a solid choice? Depends on your preferences. the X4 is a lot more to consider for your money than G6 Plus if you don´t mind the display size.
I suspect that moto will do the same thing they did with the previous generation, (5th series), they will release 6 months later the "S" versions with a few improvements. Hopefully they will get it right next time.

I like this phone but would like to see below modifications :

    1. A performance core in CPU, at least SD636 which has cortex A73 cores.

    2. At least 3500Mah battery. Moto E4 has 5000Mah battery.

    3. Lens defect !! That's very dangerous. Moto will just send it to the countries where return policy is not good.

    4. OIS, it's not a new feature, what is the cost difference between a ois camera module and non ois one ? Why can't include OIS ?

    5. IR blaster ? Why not ?

    6. Compass ?

    7. Barometer ?

I am not asking fancy sensors like Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen etc. Basic ones like Compass, Barometer and IR Blaster sensors...

You aren't the only one with supposedly misaligned optics either - my G6 Plus has the same softness/blur around the edges of images and video.

How and why and mid-range phone should feel premuim? in the conts section there is that comment "does not feel premium", GSMarena you are good but this kind of reviews give you a huge area of opportunity.

The phone feels like a modern day LG G4, at least as far as the bezel size goes.

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is a better value for your money with stock Android and the Nubia Z18 mini too. If you want a premium midrange the Zenfone 5 all the way. And soon there are other new phones upcoming as alternatives better than this phone.

The small battery, bad camera and low SoC for the price are major flaws.

nothing-, 13 May 2018Hey Motorola, why can't you bring back the Nexus 6 design? ... moreThe back cover design was simply the best. It was like the phone was designed specially just for my hand, the fit was just perfect. Still miss my Nexus 6. This G6 has a back cover that doesn't have that Nexus 6-like design. Damn shame.

Ahong Surahong, 13 May 2018I expected at least 84 hour endurance, came out disappointed. No, its pure physics - a larger screen = bigger power drain and the 630 isn't much different to the 625.

                      Obligatory need SD660 & 4000mAH juices

In the world where most of the manufacturers want to replicate iPhone X in some way or the other , Motorola stands out in it's Design. I have always appreciated this and have always been proud to own one. With Moto in hands, be assured that no one will ask - oh do you own an iPhone or it's replica?
It's so distinct and obvious in terms of design.
Same like Motorola, I have high regards for Design departments if SONY, BLACKBERRY, YOTA and now NOKIA in Android world.

Asus Zenfone max pro M1 will be main competitors of Moto g6 plus in India as Asus Zenfone max pro M1 has superior hardware and also stock Android under the hood....and also Asus Zenfone max pro M1 will be cheaper than Moto g6 plus....

Hey Motorola, why can't you bring back the Nexus 6 design? That's the best design of Motorola for an Android phone.

Just make a 5.5-5.8 inches with at least Snapdragon 660 and and OLED screen from Samsung. That would be awesome.

How is the snappiness of the software? First off, you could really include this in the software part of the review. Lagginess, stutters, and snappiness would well be worth describing what a spec sheet doesn't (I.e. A pixel VS a galaxy s). Secondly, I've heard multiple accounts that both the moto x4 and the Nokia 6.1 weren't as snappy as phones with lower processors, like the g5+ and the 7x. Is there any reason to believe this phone is less fluid or snappy in daily operation than its predecessor?
