Sony Xperia XZ2 long-term review

24 May 2018
The Xperia XZ2 can’t be confused for anything other than a Sony smartphone. But we wanted to find out is whether the XZ2 can stand out in the very crowded field of the top-of-the-line Android handsets, in more ways than just its looks. To be able to adequately evaluate what it’s like to live with this smartphone every day, we’ve used it as our one and only device for an extended period of time. This is what that experience felt like.

Agreed! Pixel Peepers and Matthew Moniz are honest and they reviewed XZ2 better than most reviewers out there (to me). Y'all should check them out.

Anonymous, 24 May 2018yeah smoother. but with much uglier user interface and less... moreIt's the first time I've seen a person who hates Sony's UI, and no, that's what you called 'No Bloatware' and 'Less Clutter'.

When it comes to details and natural color, both low lights and daylight photos on XZ2 19mp camera are champion, but not noise free. Switch to 12mp for low lights photo and its one of the best picture quality, the only problem is blown highlights on strong light area still persist. Huawei's flagship got the most preserve on highlight areas, in a good way.

Search on youtube 'Pixel Peepers' for camera phone comparison, its a very unbiased, deep reviews about the camera.

I love this phone. Best phone I've ever used. Good to know that GSMArena is honest with this review, unlike some other 'reviewers' out there that bash phones other than Samsung or iPhone.

I always got at least 7h30m screen-on-time with the phone. The display and camera are great. The phone has a performance and stability to die for. I'm pessimistic with the design and ergonomics, but the phone looks great and feels amazing in my hand.

10/10 - Best Sony phone ever (I've never used a phone from brands other than Sony, so that's why I said that this is the best Sony phone ever, but I'm pretty sure this phone is in the top 3 best phone in the world right now, overall).

For those haters, use the phone before saying bulls*** about this phone, you knew nothing.

Sony just does an excellent job with their hardware and software. The XZ2 isn't perfect but it's close to it. One of the best phones of 2018 for sure!

Well, while you mention it....S9 fp scanner is still annoyingly too close to the camera lens, so people fudge it still.
Its just as much annoying and bad placed as on this phone.

              I dont understand

You guys gave victory to XZ Premium against G6 and S8, then against U11 and i7+ last year.

How was that possible if you say not same level?

Remember when people used to say that the S8/S8+ and Note 8's fingerprint reader location was inconvenient, then suddenly the fuss all came away like it was nothing.
Same goes for this phone. People will likely to be annoyed by this phone's annoyances if they force themselves to be annoyed.

And dedicated frustration page.was better because I would usually jump to it

That design is fugly they should have kept their old design with smaller bezels

Hi I'm having problem with my USB-C lead which I've bought from outside. Does it not fit any generic wire?

Pixel's smoothness is due to EAS. Most devices use HMP, hence they cannot reach that level of smoothness.
However, there are custom kernels that bring EAS to unsupported devices. Flash one on my 5T make it Pixel-like smooth.

Smooth performance isn't surprise for me. It is Sony and not laggy Samsung.
